Remember that he's on his annual just-won-the-Olympia high. We'll see, I guess.
We're dodging more ninjitsu attacks than Flex Wheeler. We're ducking more bullets than George Farah. We're facing more death than a kid leg pressing at Branch Warren's gym.
You can't stop us. You can't hold us back.

A final decision could be based on the benefits to Gifted Nutrition. You know he likes to do those "weeks out from..." videos. Strike the iron while it's hot. Put another 1st place title next to his name. Keep his face out there.
Smart businessman.
Could be other reasons he may not want to talk about at this time, so just put a positive spin on it.Time To Re-Schedule

What ever his reason is...he's confident that he's finally gonna win an Arnold Thropy. He knows it. Because before he was anxious in getting a sandow and now that he has five. Something that has never done before, he makes history so to speak...That gave him a motivation to finally compete and win the Arnold cuz in his mind..."I have made a history, I've won 5 sandows, I stand alone with this record, I can now see myself competing in the Arnold and at the same time have fun cuz I've made it, you know, I've made it"

Maybe he knows that at this point he is pretty untouchable.
Dex is gonna be 47 next year.
Shawn lacks back to beat him.
Wolf can't beat him at this point.
Kai fuked up real good. For good.
Ramy probably wants to be 350 lbs on stage next year.
Branch's body is destroyed.
etc, etc
Phil probably thinks he can pull a Ronnie and go Olympia-Arnold-Olympya at least once. Can't blame him.

Phil is confident that that they can now get their "FORMULA" right for peaking. ie, how he wanted to look for this Olympia. I don't think he accomplished his goal look this year and he is probably thinking he needs more practice to get it down and is confident he is ready to give his newly learned strategies a go to peak for the Arnold. That way he knows he's got it down for the next year's Olympia
Would probably be a smart decision from only a competitor perspective, other perspectives still debatable, however. Would like to see it happen as I don't think he really will be making any true grow time during the offseason anyways. He hasn't really progressed much, muscular growth-wise, through his olympia wins. Each year definitely has a different look for him, but I feel like it's more the result of his peaking strategies than what he has done all year in the gym

Would also be a smart PR move as I am sure him and Arnold would make light of the "no legs" joke and have a good chuckle with the audience ending with Arnold shaking his hand, putting his arm around Phil, commending his classic, aesthetic physique.

It would be great for the fans to see Phil at the 2016 AC, but by looking at his recent history it is very very hard for Phil to peak twice a year.

He better hope that The Maryland Muscle Machine doesn't decide to make his return, his reveal, at the 2016 Arnold...because if he does, it'll be lights out, baby.
I mean, his pipes are CLEAN, baby. He's ready to go FULLBLOWN. 100lb dumbbell curls, baby. In yo' face.
That's why he had those flags hanging up on his gym. When he looked up and saw those flags, it served as a reminder that he was a soldier, and he had to fight his battle in the gym.

Yup. He's said multiple times that he wants to do the Arnold in Columbus, Ohio. Keep in mind in this interview, he didn't say he was doing the Arnold...he said he WANTS to. He's also said in multiple previous interviews that he discusses these sorta things with Hany. My guess is that he's probably not gonna do it, but it would be really cool if he pulled a Ronnie and did do the Arnold Classic after already being Mr. Olympia.
Wow, didn't even realize that was a bannable offense. Will keep that in mind.

You could see the irritation and contempt on Phil's face and in his body language when he was being asked about being nervous. And when the interviewer said he was a little off on Friday, but brought it up on Saturday. The guy oozes ego and narcissism.
I don't always do squats on leg day, but when I do, I go ASS TO THE GRASS!

Do it Phil, do it.
''There’s this battle over waterboarding at places like Guantanamo Bay. I think that they should just say, “Hey, if you guys don’t talk, you have to see Hercules In New York.” I guarantee those guys would talk much faster. You don’t need to do waterboarding or anything else. That’s the ultimate threat.''

Well he wasn't off on Friday, so that explains that....
Especially when he walked out. His tan started to come off a bit though. Said in one of Bios3training's youtube vids that it's cus he the lights backstage were hot, which made his tan run a bit and get on his clothes. Yes he started flattening out a little toward the end of prejudging, but imo, a lot had to do with him losing some color.
But that aside, i definitely think Phil was nervous come Saturday when him and Dex were the last ones standing.
edit - just rewatched the vid, and Phil didn't look like what you said. He just seemed like he was listening and gave a serious response.Last edited by stealth_swimmer; 09-26-2015 at 08:41 PM.

I think it's a combination of these two things, probably closer to the 2nd post.
Phil has always said, he plans on adding a little size each year, but just in the right areas. He's not focused on maximizing his size, just getting better and being a better version of himself each year, which i think is the right approach for him. Same as it has been the right approach for Dexter. Those are two guys that have done bodybuiding the right way, imo.

Generally, seasoned IFBB bodybuilders can't put on any more size after a certain number of years due to diminishing returns, especially if they have distended stomachs. The reason they have distended stomachs to begin with is because they have literally maxed out their frames by abusing a certain type of supp on top of using the usual stuff. The only guys that really can really stand to put on more muscle are those that still have flat stomachs like Cedric since it means guys like him haven't gone 'full blown' yet, although I don't feel like he would want to sacrifice his mid section to do that. Shawn came in bigger this year, and we all saw how different his stomach looked compared to previous years. At that point in their development I'm sure most guys are really only trying to focus on peaking at the right time for a competition.
Guys who are known to have distended stomachs when relaxed are generally as big as they are ever going to get whether it's Kai, Phil, Wolf or Dex.
