I remember everyone doing a cut last year, so I'm late to the party lol. Summer is starting early in most places, so I wanted to know if there was going to be a goal thread for max effort lifts, cutting, what have you.
Goal is to get back lifting. After living with the in laws for nearly 6 months lifting has become ~1 week. I had joined a local gym in order to maintain but I don't go. I have started visiting a gym my friend owns (olympic lifting/crossfit gym).

So I guess my goal is to get my gym setup in our new home when we close in two weeks.

I miss being able to crank the music up and slam weights at 6am or 5pm daily. Consistency is my goal.

I haven't been doing a lot of lifting recently, but I plan to get back into that as the days become warmer here. That said, I want to also make sure that I acclimate to the warmer conditions. I wasn't very well acclimated last summer and had a few days where I was feeling pretty bad towards the end of some of the hikes on warm and humid (for AZ) days.
That is a ton of hiking. My feet would fall off. I'm like a pregnant woman if I walk to far, lol.

I'd like to get comfortable working in the 300+ range on squat and deadlift and 215+ bench press at or around my current BW of 152. I feel like I'm real close. I also need to finally start working in accessories, especially biceps and triceps so i'll look like I lift weights. Strangely, 2016 was my most consistent year ever, flood and all. I think lifting just gave me my time away from the house reno and living with in-laws. It has kept me from going insane.

The frame is a 2008 Iron Horse Hollowpoint Mk III. The other components on the bike were ones I chose myself. I even built the wheels myself.

Iron Horse went out of business and the brand name was then sold to someone else (Dorel). I purchased several new Mk III frames while they were still available on ebay. I still have one left, though I think it's from the 2007 model year.

Here's a photo that I took in 2009 after one of the rebuilds in which I replaced the frame with one of those ebay purchases. (I've cracked a lot of frames over the years.)

The components shown in that photo are mostly what I still have on the bike now. One major difference is that I had to replace Mavic X819 rim with another rim - I switched to a rim from Stan's No Tubes. The frame is different too - it looks identical to the one in that photo, but I broke the one in that photo and swapped in a new one.

    I'll drop some numbers
Squat: 275kg/606 (with squat briefs or briefs & belt)
    Bench: 185kg/407 (raw, straight bar)
    Deadlift: 230kg/507 (belt only)
    @ 220 (started the year at 235, now 229)

Get my conditioning up to where I appear to a functioning human again, lol. This plays into getting down to 220.

It's amazing how lifting & being consistent really gives you a rock to stand on while everything around you is going nuts.
Arm work is probably the one thing I've never been consistent with. I'll let you take the lead & I'll try to follow, lol.

I made some excellent progress doing two-a-days for just a week, in both areas of strength and body composition. Although, the next week I was derailed with an ER visit (cut a couple fingers open) and major plumbing issue in the house that required leveling concrete and relaying flooring. I hope to start lifting twice a day again for a couple weeks to jumpstart the gainz, then increase cardio slowly as June/July approaches to lean out. My bench went from 215 to 225 for reps, and I noticed separation ALL over (quad tear drops, calves, biceps, shoulders, and chest especially). I just need a couple months of CONSISTENT, injury free, training to be where I want.

Each of the seven or so frames that I've cracked has been near a weld.

Also, I'm not doing anything really crazy with my bikes. I'm just putting in a lot of miles. Over time, the aluminum frames get subjected to enough stress cycles that they crack.

Not sure if anyone's seen this video, but here's why you never lock your legs out when when leg pressing.
This is NOT for the faint of heart:

I think this is why I've never considered buying a leg press...

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

I cannot tell from the video, but either the guy's tibia fractured just below the knee or his knee hyper-extended. For his sake, I hope it was a fracture. It looks that way because the bend seems to be below the knee.

To prevent fractures, drink your milk.

To prevent hyper-extension on the leg press, never lock out your knees.

Dom, if I understand the problem correctly it has more to do with his particular physiology. His full range of motion is that his knee joint bends beyond 180 degrees (straight). My daughters have arms/elbows like this. I'm probably not articulating this well. I think it's called hyper-mobility.

At least I'm not the only light weight around here. I'm currently at about 161 bwt. My 1 rm's are pretty close to what you said, and I think can hit that this summer. Maybe repping in that range next year.

Ha, nice. Yeah I have no real desire to get above 160, at this point in my life. My wife & I like to run, and she's tiny. I'm just trying to be strong and healthy. I just hit a 230 (1RM PR) bench press last week at 152 BW so I'm pretty stoked to be making some progress. Slow but steady..

Is anyone out there using a timer/digital clock in their gym?
I've been doing a lot of times rest periods, along speed work & conditioning where I start back at the top of every minute. Having something easy to read would be really useful. The nicer looking units, like Rogue's Echo gym timer looks really, really nice. I just don't need all of the crossfit timing crap nor the $260 price tag. Strangely, even the cheap Chinese knockoffs are $100+.

    Any thoughts on this?

It's not one of those big timers but I've been happy with my www.gymboss.com timer. You can set them up for a bunch if different programs and intervals but I just set it for 90 seconds and hit the button when I finish a set. It has a clip built in to clip to your clothing but I just clipped a strong magnet to it and attach it to whichever piece of equipment is closest to where I'm working.

The nicer looking units, like Rogue's Echo gym timer looks really, really nice. I just don't need all of the crossfit timing crap nor the $260 price tag. Strangely, even the cheap Chinese knockoffs are $100+.
I have a xtraining equipment garage timer. It's rebranded under a few different names. $99 free ship, comes with remote. It's not as big as the Rogue/MDUSA ones. No complaints for me except that once I moved into my new house/gym, it seems on the small side.

If it's wear I remember it, I think you put it far and at a funny angle from your stupid heavy @ss rack. Unfortunately, the far wall is the garage door.

It's above a window on the right-side wall. Easiest place to be seen from everywhere in the garage.
