Looks like a weird bastardisation of a fish pie - I've never ever seen one served with the fish heads on top, that is disgusting. Actual fish pie is nice, using white fish (trout, haddock, sea bass, halibut) which is poached in milk and then baked in a cheese sauce, topped with mashed potato.

I've just searched, apparently it's called a 'stargazy pie' and the pilchards (sardines) are cooked whole within the pie, their tails together in the middle and their heads up as though they're star gazing.

Which sounds absolutely disgusting. Why would anybody want an entire fish inside a pie? Bones, insipid soggy fish skin? I can't even fathom why anyone would make that aside from "oh look, let's be quintessentially and stupidly obtusely British" just for the sake of it.

The difference between me and OP is that I'll try anything once and won't disregard food until I've tried it (hence me being a fat fuk, duh). I can accept the same word being used for different foods (biscuits, jelly etc) because we're different nations. I can accept that some of the strange combinations from other countries are most likely delicious, because those people wouldn't be eating those things if they tasted like crap.

I'm guessing a McGriddle is a McMuffin over here? Called so because over here that bread product is a 'breakfast muffin'. Weird name, to me a muffin is sweet, but whatever. If they're different things, then I'm just confused. As for the sausage, egg and cheese biscuit, what is that? Is an American biscuit basically a savoury version of a scone without any fruit etc in it? Forgive the ignorance, it isn't something I've heard of before.



I'd give chicken and waffles a good go, but I'm with you that it would have to be boneless. I'm good with chicken on the bone but with that combination it's boneless for me.
