It's really not that complicated unless you're just stupid.
I drive manual in traffic every day. Again, it's really not that bad.
Newer automatics generally come with longer gear ratios. If you take a 6MT and a 6AT with identical gear ratios, the manual will get better gas mileage.
Clutches are way cheaper to replace than automatic transmissions. Also, I'm at 150k miles on my original clutch and it still has a lot of life left. If you have to replace the clutch more frequently than once per decade, you probably just suck at shifting.
They aren't worse, though...
If you just want to get from point A to point B, an automatic is fine. If you actually care about having fun while driving, manual is the way to go.

id rather be heel-toeing through corners than just hitting the brakes, any day!
Op makes some good points, but there is one reason people drive manual and that is because its more fun.Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well

*TFW you rarely replace break pads when in manual
*TFW pissed at cars and drive at high RPMs to be loud as fck and annoy everyone
*TFW your blow off scares people on the side of the road or animals
*TFW you shift gears while racing
*TFW you drive a 2015 STI
Not going to lie though, if you have never been in a CVT tansmission boosted WRX then you have no idea what its like to go through 8 gears without losing boost. Those are fast cars.**Popeye the sailorman Forearms Crew**

American laziness at it's finest
I never understood why you guys aren't bigger on public transport... "Pff who'd drive an automatic when you can just buy a ticket and sit on a train staring at the wall"If I laugh, I rep

Auto's are for people who lost a leg or an arm but still want to drive OP. lol just lol at a functional human being driving an auto.
You walk around with one of these because its easier too OP even though you are perfectly healthy?
Or why walk at all. Just start rolling around in an electrical wheelchair. Lol at plebs that walk around its way harder. Sitting in your electrical wheelchair cruising around through the shop is so much better than manually walking.Het bier zal weer vloeien

Driving an auto is like making the rim larger in basketball, sure its easier, but you lose the fun and challenge.
Anyone can learn to drive a manual, but it takes skill to learn how to drive one well. Heel-n-Toe while braking for a corner is tons of fun and is so satisfying when you get it right.

OP, it's obvious you're a prissy bitch who's never gotten your hands dirty.
Manuals are better than autos simply because of the reliability factor. If you shift properly, it's easy to get 150k+ miles out of the clutch and the tranny itself can last forever if you don't abuse it.
Auto transmissions have so many things than can go wrong with them and I'm referring to 10 year old ones. I'm sure the 2015 autos have an overkill amount of things that will lead to costly repairs over time.
