Here for work since monday, flew into Dublin and then to Venice, am staying an hr north of Venice at the base of the Dolimites. Haven't been here since 2006 and it's still fabulous, freakin food and wine has been awesome. Gnoochi, tortelloni, linguini, pizza, tiramisu, etc. Feel like I have gained 5lbs in 3 days. Hitting up Venice tomorrow as my work here is complete. Fly out friday morning.
I told my wife 9 yrs ago I'd move here in a heartbeat and I haven't changed that opinion one damn bit.

Sounds like a great trip. Loved the pics.

Totally understanding you here Corbi, I've visited Italy twice. They are the best and most vivid memories of my youth. I fell in love with how magical and full of life the place was(especially at night) The people are amazing - so much heart and soul. One of my fondest memories was being at my Uncle's Osteria with family and friends, the food was incredibly delicious! We were absolutely bursting! The place was alive with chatter, laughter and spiced up a bit with semi-heated exchanges haha love it!! A man sitting opposite from me then suddenly breaks into song.... the rest who were sitting around the table eventually followed. My God they were loud! I know my cheeks were red, they felt hot from blushing lol The men's beautiful voices set the place alight and gently raised the roof I'm sure.
At eleven I had left my heart in Italy (sigh) and same again at sixteen. Yep.. I have three hearts. The thought of leaving Italy killed me, each time quietly crying myself to sleep with thoughts of running away so I'd miss that damn plane
What a lovely work trip, I'm jealous and good to see you're enjoying every minute of it. Just lie back..I mean get to work and enjoy la dolce vita.
Viva Italia!.

Sounds beautiful Corbi....I'm sure a little of that Italian heritage has something to do with wanting to live in Italy. I know it would be a place I would consider if the circumstances were right.

Unfortunately very recently there was a large landslide in San Vito di Cadore (north of Caneva) that killed a bunch of people. Sad.

I wasn't all that thrilled about visiting Venice (was in Ferrara for a conference and it was their outing) - but changed my mind once I got there. It was pretty cool. We even went back on our own the next day. Really enchanting.

Venice looking off the Rialto bridge
From the steps of the Rialto
Bridge of Sighs. Story goes that the courthous is on the left and when walking to prisoners over to the jail on the right via this bridge it was to be their last view of the water front for quite sometime and a lot of them would sigh at the view.

Alley in Venice where I saw a mafia hit go down as we were eating lunch. Saw a mouse running against the wall and the head waiter saw it as well, he kicked that poor mouse all the way down that alley and then wacked it with a broom afterwards.
Grand Canal
Twist and Shout shake I had at Hard Rock Cafe, had rum and delicious bacon.
Have to upload more to FB, will post some here when I get that done."You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? Yeah, well, I don't have one of those."
