So i was wondering if egg beaters would be a good meal to have? They have no fat, or anything really, its almost like pure protein, but i never really hear about anyone eating them. It seems like it would also be good to have as a quick meal b/c you can cook them in a mircowave. Any ideas or thoughts? Thx!

Love them, they are great. You can just drink them without worrying about salmonella as with raw eggs. I like the blue ones. They have less sodium. They market them as more for baking, but I like them better. http://www.eggbeaters.com/products/eggwhites.jsp
I take 1/2 cup of egg whites with some real eggs and scramble them in the microwave as follows:
I do mine this way (scrambled):
1/2 cup of egg whites and 2 XL eggs in a pyrex measuring bowl
add a little kosher salt and pepper
stir them up real good
nuke on high for 45 seconds then stir them up again
... repeat for 30 seconds then stir
... repeat for 15 seconds then stir and serve.
I eat this before I eat my scottish oatmeal w/ flaxseed meal.Last edited by styles; 03-02-2007 at 09:26 PM.

Egg beaters are fine also you can just take the egg whites out of eggs if you want its much more cost efficient.
I am not afraid... I was born to do this!

Eggbeaters r just colored egg whites . . .
Egg whites + food coloring = Eggbeaters, read the package label . . .
I use them a lot 4 cooking & omelets. I make an omelet out of one of those Eggbeaters cups that come in a 3-pack (2 eggs equivalent) plus one whole egg 2 give it more flavor.
U can also buy them in larger cartons & store brands, which is more cost effective:
1/2 cup = 2 eggs equivalentBest Regards,

I get them all the time. You could just eat egg white from real eggs, but for me these are more convenient, and I think they taste great. Lol I know someone said they gave him smelly farts but I've never encountered that.
I make a nice big omlete sometimes when i want a low carb/ high protein meal that's filling, 1 cup eagg beaters, 4 slices of deli turkey breast cut up, and i got a huge omlete with 35g protein and about 1-2 carbs, with 0 fat. But as others have said, carbs are necessary often. Personally I try to limit them at night though... so I like this meal for then especially.
