Hey guys,
Just wondering whether it would be better for me to do less reps with more weight, or more reps with less weight while I'm at the gym?
On most of the machines I'll do;
10 reps at x weight
8 reps at x +10/15lbs (whatever the next increment is)
6 reps at x +20/30lbs (pretty much to fail after the sixth).
With the above I'd be using a decent amount of weight (really have to work to pull out the last set, first two aren't easy by any means).
I feel this is good for building muscular endurance (which is what I need as my 400m is my main race), but would it be better to do slightly less reps with more weight for this? Perhaps it would be better to have more power as opposed to endurance? Or maybe I should be doing even longer reps with less weight?
Also I'll usually do 25reps x 4 sets of squats (just with say an 8kg dumbbell in each hand), for the same theory of muscular endurance. Should I be doing these with more weight and less reps or is it cool as it is?
Cheers guys

Shorter reps more weight, or longer reps less weight? From a 200m/400m sprinter.

i struggled w/ the low/high rep thing for a while...so i decided to do a high rep day and a low rep day for upper body, and on leg day..do a variety of rep ranges...example..squat in lower ranges, 1 leg squat in high range.
Cheers, and good luck,
VforVladanybody can heave-ho that -ish, but only a bodybuilder can make the muscle do the work

My current program looks like this (Sunday and Monday are rest days as I have work, Tuesday [after gym], Thursday and Saturday I'm at the track);
Tuesday; Power cleans, Squats, Bench Press (Nothing on legs as I have the track after)
Wednesday; Power cleans, Squats, Bench Press, Leg Press, Leg Extension, Lat Pulldown
Friday; Power cleans, Squats, Bench Press, Leg Press, Leg Extension, Lat Pulldown
What do you guys think about that?
