Nice tips. At first when we start the beginners routine, yes it may be boring but later on when we see the results it becomes interesting.

I have been doing my own routine for 6 months around the PPL style. It has occurred to me that i should follow pre-made routines but i have a few questions.
I have the form check and fundamentals down so do i still need to do beginner/novice routines? or can i move to intermediate?
What do 'beginner','novice' and 'intermediate' mean?'
    Are novice/beginner the same?
If you could respond that would be great

    -Thanks

Beginner doesnt mean that you can't perform the lifts efficiently. The beginner stage is where you can progreys workout to workout. So it would be beneficial for everyone to stick with a beginner routine for as long as possible. You will get stronger a lot faster if you do. Eventually you won't be able to progress every workout so you will have to move to intermediate routines. This usually means you are progressing once per week to once a month.
So unlike many other things beginner doesn't mean easier, it actually will be harder since your progression is much more rapid.

Untrained/novice means you need to work on the basics and you are completely new to lifting or a certain style of lifting.

Beginner is usually <1-2 years of consistent good training.

Intermediate is between beginner and advanced where you can still be on linear progression but your progression will be much slower usually 1 week - 1 month to move up in weight.

    Good post ! +REP

When I was doing my novice program as it was written I was doing 1-2 warm up sets on every excersise, then if compound I start 3x5 with heavy ass weight, on the isolations after the warm up sets I was doing 3-4 sets of 8-10 reps instead of 2x10 or something like this as many people say, only because I didn't feel I was working good, guys always remember to feel good and be happy while training. Always when I go in the gym I ****ing hype up and I forget about all problems and stress and feel so damn happy. So I was feeling burn, good burn and I always knew I work good, I was sweating, that were my remarks to train hard. On the next day I wasn't sore because my diet is pretty good. Remember! Diet, Work your ass off, and no way to not get big. I see some guys do 2x10, rest 5-6 min, do 3x5 with low weight, don't get any work and then complain about how they don't get gainz.

Just work your ass, have fun, enjoy what you do!

    Have a nice day bros/

But a split can have all those pros. I don't see a difference with running a split that is 3x5 on bench, squat, DL and 8-10 or 10-12 on other compounds/isolations or doing 3x5, 5x5 on a beginner routine. You can still hit muscles at least 2x per week, just not 3. And why aren't beginners capable of adding progression themselves? It's just more weight on the bar and a surplus. Agree with you about the form. Also, a good split won't give you muscle imbalances if created properly, and I'm talking about a split not made by the beginner. Also legs is my favorite part to train and squats are one of my favorite exercise. I have a love hate relationship with them.

But yes everything in your thread is accurate for a majority of beginners. Most beginners go to the gym 3x a day everyday just to curl and wonder why they don't progress.

That's why I'm glad I came on the forums about 2 months before I was able to go the gym to be informed or I would have wasted my time in the gym. I think im making gains though with the way I chose to train. We'll see.

    Informative thread.
Summary: Start slow, don’t jump right in and start exercising five days a week, mix it up as you go on, know your weight and the right way to use it and most importantly, rest and recover.
