That's not how I read it. The way I understood it, you have a year from today to decide to upgrade if you want. The upgrade is free, but if you don't take advantage of it within that first year, you'll have to buy a CD key.

So far no issues to report. I only got to play around with it for ~30 minutes last night on my laptop, but I tested a couple games and they ran without a hitch, and Windows in general seems snappy. I like the way it looks/feels, and it seems like they more or less combined the best elements of Win7 & 8.1 together.

So how do I do a clean install of Windows 10 without CD key? I currently have Windows 8 pro, but don't want to upgrade over it. Clean installs FTW.

Not to upgrade. The concern is downloading the full installation media and installing from scratch without a valid Windows 10 CD key.

Some quick googling around looks like you don't need a key, windows apparently will just recognise your pc? I'm scurred... I don't wanna end up ****ing up and having to reinstall 7

Curious to know after a year or so down the road when I want to reformat and install windows 10 from the USB. What cd key do we use? I am just upgrading 10 today and not going to do a fresh install cause I reformatted around 4 months ago.
