its always fat lazy people who say it as they want to justify them not exercising themselves. anyone who can actually eat countless calories everyday has a thyroid problem which is very rare. someone might have a slightly higher metabolism by 200-300 calories but thats it. skinny people who you see overeating are compensating by not eating enough when they are alone

One of my wife's friends lived with us for about six months. Her doctor told her she needed to gain weight so he put her on a weight gaining diet. She downed more food than I've seen any guy consume and still was still as skinny as a rail after six months.....Definitely does not have an eating disorder.

Eat 3,000+ calories a day without gaining weight crew.
If I'm not eating at least 4,000 (more realistically, 4,500) calories consistently, I'm not gaining weight. Srs. No cardio either.
I thought I might have a thyroid issue, as my body works so hard to burn fat that if I so much as stand up, you can feel the heat radiating off of me. I was tested to be fine, though.
It's not a myth, but less common than people make it out to be.
Currently 6'0 180 at around 10% BF ATM, so it has nothing to do with my size.

I used to be a scrawny little skinny-fat kind of guy and I just never really ate. Skinny people often feel like they eat way more than they do and this was one thing I had to recognize and get over to successfully start gaining weight. I think when you are "skinny" your mind and body get used to the amount of food you eat (or don't) so that becomes normal, much like a fat person sucking down 4,000 calories a day to just sit at a desk thinks that is normal.
I would agree that it is a myth because once you start consistently eating "what ever you want" or an excessive amount of food all the time like a fat person does, you start gaining weight; of course, if you're super skinny and you have whole little tub of Ben N Jerry's ice cream or a 1lb cheeseburger as a once in a while thing, I don't think it'll make much of a difference, never did for me at all.

It's mostly nonsense. Studies show that metabolism varies from person to person, but not by much. Certainly not thousands of calories.
96% of the population is within 16% of the average metabolic rate, 68% are withing 8%.
Everyone has a doctorate in endocrinology though and has accurately diagnosed themselves as having an abnormally high or low metabolism though apparently.
