Democrats are often called liberals. But true liberals are further left than the traditional democrat
Conservatives are republicans but are usually further right
The other parties like tea party libertarians are slight variations of each of the 2 parties that are trying to distinguish themselves because they feel that the original party has compromised on certain things. They will not win an election for a very long time if they are not one of the 2 major parties.
But those of us who vote strict republican or democrat do not determine who the next elected official will be. It is the 10% who are undecided and in the middle that truly elect people.
That is why you see the republican candidates becoming more liberal and the democrat candidates becoming more conservative. All for that 10% in the middle

Mikie, I once got intrigued by politics and started following it and found out the hard way that all politicians are full of sh!t, they never answer a question directly. They are notorious in answering a question that best suits their needs without ever answering the question posted. Yet they are intelligent enough to swindle people into believing their lies, but are too stupid to have common sense. In fact it is amazing how imprudent they can be when it comes to rationalizing common sense to mitigate their political views towards other politicians.
I am glad I don’t follow it anymore my brain was fried with all the stupidity involved by pretentious so called adults, I rather watch paint dry.On the list for Bannukah

It's good to hear you are concerned, Mikie, as you should be.
Vakrka and BH are correct.
I also want to add there are powerful people behind the politicians who are the ones pulling the string.
The U.S. is in big trouble. I would say instead of getting wrapped up in Ds and Rs affairs, which are nothing more than smoke and mirror cuz they are both two legs of the same pants, worry instead about preparing yourself and your loved ones when SHTF.This above all..

In practice, there is not much difference between the two parties. Republicans wage war openly and tax in secret, while Democrates tax openly and wage war in secret.
The main difference between the parties is their choice of rhetoric. Democrats like to use the rhetoric of "social justice," while Republicans like to use the rhetoric of "individual rights." In both cases, though, it is just rhetoric. Both parties are corrupt beyond belief and actively work to reward friends to the exclusion of ordinary citizens.

Democrats- women, foreigners, hippies (Emotion)
Republicans- The normal people you talk to every day who think bruce jenner is an idiot. (Logic)
Stereotypical as it looks you will find this scale is pretty accurate 95% of the time."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

Agreed and I think an even bigger issue is the split that has occurred between the parties that leave them unable to work with each other. NorwichGrad has hit the nail on the head, " The U.S. is in big trouble" Government is not about the common every day ordinary citizen anymore. I won't even get started on a rant about the way the electoral system is set up.

True. When you see most of the republican party with no desire to actually do anything about illegal immigration you pretty much know there is no difference between the 2 parties. However, I don't think republicans would be allowing Iran 24 days notice for nuke inspection sites. Would you give your wild teenager 24 days to prepare their bedroom for an inspection? Would you give a prisoner 24 days notice to prepare their cell for inspection? There is no logic in these types of decisions from the democrats in my opinion. Thus crup has nailed it...democrats (actually liberals) have no logical sense about these things. I don't think there are too many traditional democrats left. I hope I'm wrong...

Parties come and go. A few years back my wife and I were tired of the Demopublican/Republicrat games and decided to join a third party that might have a platform more in touch with reality. There are dozens, it seems, but each one is just a wacko as the big 2 are. It was a sobering experience to see that not only are we being led by crazies, but all the alternatives are crazy too. I figured to do this right, I'm going to have to be my own political party and my own religion. Everybody else's is nuts.

Political labels have no real meaning. They are just a lazy mans way of guessing what someone's other beliefs are when they reveal one belief.
Oh, and nice troll attempt. I missed the simpler days when one "innocent" question or "observation" could set of a sh!t storm. Seems like now only old people and conservatives fall for them.
So boring.A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.
