At first I thought why would anyone need a gun? But recently someone has been knocking on my door and runs away before I get to it, also what if someone tries to rob your place ? So now I see why every American should own one.

Shotgun is best for home protection at close range. When you're in panic mode it's best to have a shotgun because you don't need to aim, just point and shoot. Other than that, I'd go for a 9mm pistol. Not much recoil and easily accessible. Don't forget a hunting knife while you're at it. In close corridors, a knife beats a gun most times.

calipers
870 Express brah.
Rack it and they'll run.
00 Buckshot
DON'T get a double action pistol.
HK's are nice, glock 19's (I think, maybe 17?) are highly regarded, but I just don't like em for some reason.
Go to a shooting range and practice holding a few. Caliber of bullet doesn't matter a ton.♞♞♞ Misc Horse Head Crew ♞♞♞ // ☮ // EDM+Dubstep Crew

A 9mm will do he job. A .40 or .45 is going to go through walls. Shotguns are perfect for home defense most slugs won't go through walls and it's pretty hard to miss with that spread. I just have my Glock 9mm for self defense. I have a self built ar15 too but I would be trying to clear rooms with that.

Get a 12 gauge shotgun and some 00 buckshot.
A blast or two of that is strong enough to take down a bear, so you do the math what it could do to a human being.
Also you don't really have to worry as much about accuracy as with other firearms; this is key especially when you are suddenly awoken in the middle of the night and are not really in the right state of mind for a gun fight.Last edited by ratt1ehead; 07-17-2015 at 06:43 PM.

I'm a big fan of the Glock 19 for errything, especially if you are a beginner. Shotgun imo is more difficult to have close at hand without it being obvious. With a smaller gun you can carry it on you or keep it in a drawer at night.
Also keep in mind for home defense something like the Glock (no safety) is ideal. I am not a fan of a safety on a gun unless it's just something you are going to use recreationally.** Eternal Jimmies Crew **
