Anyone know about fixing laptops?

The screen is fked, every little movement and screen goes pixelated and pink or it just goes black, really annoying. Not sure what model it is, got it as a gift, all I know is it's an HP Pavilion, only a couple of years old.

Can this sort of thing be fixed, or better off getting a new laptop?

There's some wires or cables that are worn out or partially torn so they only work when they're sitting a certain way.

Same thing happens with headphones when they get old and if you stretch the wire on the headphones one side will work and the other wont.

It can be fixed. But only do it if you can get it done for cheap. You said its a few years old, itll only get worse from here.
