I was in Japan last year and it's a horrible place to live and work.

Work places are all old boys' clubs, you get a job and stick with it forever, changing careers is frowned upon, etc.

Salaries are tied to age and seniority so working hard while younger won't pay off until much, much later, maybe.

Either way you're working your nuts off all the time. They even have sleeping pods at some subway stations for those who work/drink (lots of people go drinking with co-workers/clients after work) past the last train.

I would concentrate more on the work force participation than working more hours. Employers want to keep employee count low and hours worked maximized to increase profits. They could produce the same results, but with a little less profit, if they hired more people. Nothing against hard/long work at all. I average around 120-130 hrs every 2 wks and not a single fornicate is given.

Why do yoy do that though? What kind of life is that when you're working 60-65 hours a week.

I value my time off at a figure much higher then anyone would ever pay me. 40 hours a week is more then enough. If i can't support myself and my.family on 40 hours a week I either need to find a new job or adjust my living standards. Only people who should be working like that are business owners.

I personally think the saying "you work to live, not live to work" is tbe perfect moto for me. Work 40 hours a week and have a decent hoke life. Monday - Friday weekends off.

funny how all of the poverty jobs at poverty companies had me working >40 hours a week, yet the more balling ones only asked for 32 hours as long as you are not going full potato on projects. Lol at thinking that working longer hours accomplishes anything.

have morning meeting
talk to co-workers
lunch
check emails, skype, ********

complain about lack of time
leave at 6:00 pm damning those long hard hours and how tired you are

True for so many jobs, its just sad and wasteful. I don't count my hours but most weeks its >40. Glad my employer and team are not potatoes. A lot of it has to do with who you work for and with.

There is no honor in working hard unless you're working for a cause that YOU'RE interested in. This American idea that hard work no matter the circumstance is an acceptable virtue needs to end ASAP. It's nothing more than corporate brainwashing. The hard work you put into your powerlifting total is something to be proud of; not slaving away for your employer.
