Horological value means the watch and watch brand has history, heritage, and of course, value. Patek, Audemars, Lange, Rolex. Not sh*tty Michael Kors, Movado, Fossil, etc.

Movado actually has a fairly storied history and they made some fantastic pieces back in the day. You wouldn't know it based on today's Movado because they've gone to chit but to group them with Michael Kors and Fossil is pretty far out there.

you can buy a sub 100 dollar gold looking seiko and accomplish the same goal as the $40k rolex day date

i think the movado's look nicer because the face or plate thing on them is yellow/gold too unlike the ones he posted

A 100$ seiko and a 40k$ rolex do not have the same goal. Although I'd be more inclined to believe someone who buys a 100$ seiko did more research into his purchase.

Vintage/used isn't nearly as expensive as retail. And as the prophet archie once said: Never pay retail suckers.

Have been looking at these nonstop for the past month. Can't pull the trigger yet. If I still want it in 6 months, I am buying one.

I spent 1.3k more on my Breitling and the Explorer II gets all the wrist time. I love it. When I see a GMT or a Sub they look bigger on other people's wrist so I have been thinking about a Batman lately though.

The dink is opening shop in the vintage department. Doubt that they'll have a big influence though as their turnover will be low and bargains are non existent. You do get somebody else to do the research for you and they'll want to protect their name in case they wrongly asses something, best insurance you can get.

Also lold at 80% of their shop selling out on the first day.

That strapfinder however is some pure gold if they get some more models in, test straps on the dink purchase from a site with realistic prices. This is still the company that claimed the average income of their readers was north of 200k.

I have mixed feelings on the hulk sub. It's a hit or miss for me. I absolutely love the batman, though. One of my favorite Rolex watches of all time.



Also, what does the MWC think about the black vs white dial Daytonas? I just don't think the black dial does Rolex any justice (unless it's an Explorer or Submariner). That said, both watches are quite lovely.

I, too have the black (a few pages back) but only because it was the only one available from my AD. I wanted the white but the wait was too long. I'm still on the list and will definitely buy it first chance I get and sell the black.

Mirin' Kylo Ren helmet. But... there are some people who don't like the aquanaut. Personally, I love it. You can dress it up, down, go to the beach with it, etc. It's the perfect all around piece.

Everyone overlooks the aquanaut. They'll see the nautilus, which is a great piece too, and the calatrava. Either way, PP makes incredible timepieces.

the 15300 isnt as popular as it should be, since its a 39mm like the 15202. the jumbo really eclipses the 15300 in terms of popularity

but since thickness is the only aesthetic difference, most people cant tell the difference. and the 15300 should be a bargin

I've always preferred the 15300 over the 15202 because of the size and the second hand. I would definitely take either one, though. I like 39mm to 40mm the best. They feel the most comfortable on my wrist.

Milgaus is such a great looking watch, but the price tag doesnt justify the lack of complications.
Explorer ii is probably the best value you can get in a rolex. Will be my next purchase.

Not online, have a couple friends in the area (NYC) that do what you would call grey market dealing of watches. They sell pre-owned without warranty and sometimes without papers/boxes but at heavy discounts. I paid $4k for it so pretty cheap tbh

Gray market is when AD'S release over stock or hard to move items at a discount more than allowed by the manufacturer to unauthorized dealers, and the non AD then resells the watch as new. There are lots of reputable gray market dealers. Virtually every online retailer for high end watches is grey market. Amazon, eBay, jomashop, Ashford etc. You can get a Rolex/Omega/breitling/pan./etc at any of those places but they won't have an original mfg warranty

Correct, this is an individual rather than one of the online stores but same difference except usually better prices since it's one off stock. He's one of the bigger and more known ones in the Northeast. Also know two others in the tri-state area.
