It's the gift that keeps on giving. Used the Kodiak P&W mix last weekend. Makes great waffles, I always add extra eggs and no oil even if the mix calls for oil. Yolks has plenty of fat.
My oldest is coming home from Melbourne for Christmas this year. Looking forward to seeing him, it's been 2 years since I saw him last.

No family crew checking in.
I see someone related to me once a year, on average, and it's usually for weddings or funerals... family is 5500km away (so like 3500 miles?) and friends are spread across the entire country - and Canada isn't a small country. This is the first Christmas I've had off in 7 years, so doing dinner with the Wife's family and sitting alone and crying the rest of the time. Got a military buddy also forever alone this Christmas so I expect we'll just get obliterated and internally condemn everyone who doesn't appreciate the family/friends they take for granted.
Side note: we kinda do a 'chosen family' thing. Wife and I were both like that before we met, so we have close friends that are more family than blood-relatives (one is the guy mentioned above which is nice).1175 @172

My Disney pass expires Sunday night at midnight so I ran around the Magic Kingdom last night until midnight. I'll post a pic of the castle later.
Ammex, I'm doing two push-ups every time my parents raise their voices with each other or me, or say something snippy to me and I've lost track of how many push-ups I've done already. :P I only started Thursday and I haven't even seen them that much. killing several birds at once. When I do this my urge to snipe back evaporates.start where you are

I have friends visiting family in town.
They have wanted to go out drinking almost every night this week. ooopfhh.
i'm not working this week but still......
oh and I cracked the threads on my old-ass hot tub pump.
ONly one place online had a new face plate and because of the holiday i have zero idea if they actually have it.
bottom line instead of enjoying it i'm gonna end up screwing around with it most likely after the "heat wave" of upper 30's we are having now.
merry Christmas everyone.

Here it's the daily flow of food from my wife's work and neighbors. Pantry looks like a bakery and a candy store shacked up in a no-tell motel. But my birthday cake was mega, used to make funfetti cakes for the kids and had a taste for one. Had 2 slices last few days. I think I'm becoming a normal person?
Nothing like that moment you realize that the threads just went to FUBAR town. My friend who i helped to lose weight for our trip over the summer wants me to run a half marathon with her in may.
that won't happen for me.
she doesn't run at all except on the treadmill.
I think she is setting herself up to fail but i'm the type of guy that if you see me running down the street, call the police because someone is chasing me.
so i have no clue.

I use the treadmill a lot and find that it translates well to running outside, though average speed on the treadmill (at 0 incline) is, in my experience, 15-45 seconds slower per mile. YMMV, but I definitely wouldn't have the outdoor endurance I have without the treadmill work I've done. I don't think I'd wager all my prep on the treadmill, but it will help, not hurt, that she uses the treadmill.

Last half marathon I did I was doing short hard runs, hills, stairs, etc. NOTHING for endurance work at all. Ran a 5k at 7pm and placed 10th overall (few thousand people) then ran a half at 7am and finished 11th. My point is, half marathons get a lot of hype, but so do 5 and 10k 'races'. They aren't hard, they just require a small amount of very specific training (running) and the mental stamina to do the exact same thing for like 2 hours straight. They're kinda like the official "look at me I'm not fat anymore" stepping stone.
You can do one with a little specific training.
Edit: if you're using the treadmill for training you better have it on at least a 1.5 incline to account for natural resistance, and should supplement with other types of training because the mechanics can change quite a bit from treadmill to dry land.1175 @172

You know, doofus reversal I made above ^ what I meant, as I'm sure you figured, is that my times on the treadmill are ~15-45 s./mi. *faster* than outdoor speeds and I've heard similar stuff from others.
It's been nasty cold around here, too. Which, to me, is in the 40s or below. Cannot get warm! But I've discovered base layers this year. So much so that I went around giving base layers to all m' loves.

You what??? I just took advantage of it being "pretty warm out" and walked my dogs for about 40 mins.
It's -23C (-10F)...
I didn't even have to wear my warm clothes.... 1 thin layer for a shirt, but threw on my parka. Thin baselayer pants (think under armour heat gear) and like softshell type of pants.1175 @172

Yea, yah. I have lousy cold tolerance. I'd be cold in your -10 attire if it were 60 degrees warmer here. Don't judge me. I was shamed into pretending I wasn't cold through all of my youth. I refuse to be ashamed any more. But geez. We had a 20s to low 30s F week here earlier this month. I was bundled like the michelin man and still cold. Some of us should just migrate.

Buy the right clothes and won't have as much hatred for it. My parka barely weighs more than a pound and I don't even need to layer until it hits -20C. Same with proper base layers that's you've just now discovered. Spend the money and they'll last for years and will be well worth it. Take the guess work out and just buy major outdoor brands like Arc'teryx. Lifetime warranty on all their stuff. They're replacing one of my wife's jackets as we speak.
