You are basically suggesting that, despite the majority of people now supporting gay marriage and there being no logical reason to oppose it, he should stick to his old biblical views solely in the interest of not 'flop flopping'? It's pretty likely that Obama really is an atheist. He supported gay marriage before he ran for president, and everyone with two brain cells knows "civil unions" are just a euphemism for the real thing. The post-hoc reasoning of "as a politician, there are the things I believe for myself and there are the things I believe the people of this country want me to do" does come across as a little half assed, though it does have some sense to it.

What's really much more distressing are the people who lack the two brain cells to comprehend this. We should start a charity drive to increase their neuron count slightly. Maybe we can harvest them from pigs or something.
