Can you imagine JJ Watt or Eli or Marshawn Lynch tearing his ACL in the Pro Bowl? Getting injured and potentially losing out on millions of dollars in a contract year due to a game more meaningless than the first pre-season game....


About the only way I'd watch the Pro Bowl is if (like someone suggested; can't remember who) they picked rule changes out of a hat each quarter ("In the third quarter, no forward passes are allowed," "in the fourth quarter, all offensive and defensive players must trade positions," etc.).

That actually does sound like it'd be highly entertaining. About as humorous and fun as a pro sports event could be with MTV Rock n' Jock a thing of ancient history.

But really the entire thing is doomed to irrelevance because it is irrelevant. Those guys' bodies are worth way, way too much to risk in a pure exhibition and "winning" is meaningless so nobody is ever going to GAF.

Yep. Baseball is smart to do the All-Star game in teh middle of the season. But the ASB is generally a bit of rest for all players (even the ones involved in it). Where adding in another full speed game would serve to only break down the bodies (and possibly bones & ligaments) even more.

True, MLB baseball players already play 4,795 games a year in a sport that causes relatively little damage to your body if you aren't a pitcher (in which case you're only on the mound once every three months to try to reduce wear and tear on the shoulder and ulnar nerves) or catcher (better start saving up for your double knee replacement). One more game is effectively meaningless.

Football, on the other hand, is super traumatic, and one extra game full-out has serious potential injury and health implications for everyone playing.

As no other country could assemble a senior Australian rules team of the same quality, the All-Australian team never plays a game.

What would be more interesting than a pointless exhibition in Hawaii is assembling all those players selected for interviews, meeting fans, etc. but not actually playing a game. Essentially showing off a football team that would represent the USA if it were an international sport.

That is really all that is needed, IMO. Just like when players are selected to All-County, All-State, All-National teams, etc.

Knowing how much this competition means to you I would not object to W-6. Trolling was a guilty pleasure but I can see there are real feelings involved here. You did it hard last season. Almost racked up 10 straight to the bottom.

It cannot stop in time but it can avoid killing 10 people by steering into a wall. However, this collision would kill you, the owner and occupant. What should it do?

Is it acceptable for an autonomous vehicle to avoid a motorcycle by swerving into a wall, considering that the probability of survival is greater for the passenger of the car, than for the rider of the motorcycle? Should different decisions be made when children are on board, since they both have a longer time ahead of them than adults, and had less agency in being in the car in the first place? If a manufacturer offers different versions of its moral algorithm, and a buyer knowingly chose one of them, is the buyer to blame for the harmful consequences of the algorithm’s decisions?

I have had New Glarus beers. They make good beers. I have not had their pumpkin beer. The issue is not who brews it, but rather that it is a terrible style.

Jolly Pumpkin La Parcela is the only pumpkin beer I would voluntarily consume again.
