RL has been a little moar hectic that planned. Back to work today and an early start. Late Canada Day yesterday with the kids and all sorts of other stuff. I'm taking this as my deload week and since I wans't thrilled with my ohp session I'm going to redo the week starting hopefully tomorrow.

LOL at all of us trying to ineptly hip swing OHP!!! I did exactly the same on Monday after seeing the vid in Robert's journal. I was all over the fecking place! I looked like in incompetent push-presser!!!

Not much today. This workout was at the end of my work day so I was feeling pretty loose and highly caffeinated by the time I got home.
Deads
5 × 135 [45]
5 × 165 [45,10,5]
3 × 200 [45,25,5,2.5]
5 × 250 [45,45,10,2.5]
3 × 280 [45,45,25,2.5] - DOH PR for that
1+ × 315 [45,45,45] - Got 8 Rep pr had a couple more I think but felt a strain in my right pec on the last rep so called it at 8. Wanted 10 but obviously very happy with 8.

Did one set of 255x1 to finish it off but I was so phucking done at this point lol
Changed my deads just slightly after watching that Rippetoe vid on deads. Kept my butt a bit higher and tried pulling my chest up. Not sure if it made much difference.

He definitely does and I enjoyed that series a lot. Some of the things I'm really going to put into practice right away. Like what I took away from the bench and squat vid.
I'd love to redecorate my gym but my wife seems to have a problem with that idea. Some nonsense about being a positive example for my kids or something silly
Yeah man I agree. I'm taking away a couple pointers from the bench and squat vids cuz that's where I need some real work. The press and deads I think I'll just leave as is for now.

Damn, but those deads were sweet Dave! Always hard to tell on from from that angle, but you could see that your hips didn't raise at all - really smooth.
And some more left in the tank to boot!

2 part day! Wanted to ensure benching was done. Meeting a buddy for a squash game, then work, the accessories after work. This morning was bench and I tried to use a lot of the cues from that Rippetoe vid again. I felt it really helped. Still fairly loose but this felt like the best I've done in quite awhile.

Really happy with a bench session for a change though. While a lot of work still needs to be done that 170 set felt awesome and the 185 actually surprised me as you can probably tell on rep 2 Was really feeling the feet planted and leg drive today. Those deads looked great Dave ... you got your butt height spot on and there was no wasted energy on any one of those pulls. Impressive to get a triple at 280 DOH as well
Great job on the benching as well ... very easy reps at 170 and those 185 reps flew up so that you looked like you surprised yourself and made an easy rescue when you hit the safeties!"Better to wear out than rust out!"

Good to hear your bench feels better...7 on +1 shows a lot of room for growth...Probably would have gotten a couple more at 185 if you hadn't repped out at 170. You have a lot of cycles left for bench growth...

Nice bench workout Dave. Keep up the excellent work. It looks like the 5/3/1 is working great for you.
