TOKYO (AP) — A U.S. woman attempting to cross the Pacific by rowboat has ended her solo attempt because of expected bad weather.
Sonya Baumstein was rescued off the Japanese coast on Saturday after sending out a distress signal, Kyodo news agency reported on Sunday.
The 30-year-old Baumstein departed from Choshi, Japan, one week ago, hoping to become the first woman to row solo across the Pacific.
She was headed for San Francisco but sent out the signal on Saturday around 2:20 p.m. about 250 kilometers (155 miles) off the coast of Japan.
A freighter traveling nearby rescued her at around 5 p.m. (0800 GMT) Saturday and passed her on to a coast guard ship around 8:55 p.m. (1155 GMT), the Japanese coast guard said.
Baumstein was hoping to finish the 6,000-mile (9,600-kilometer) journey by late September.

Here's a short writing in regards to the woman that swam from cuba to florida. It applies to the situation in the OP extremely well although it isn't swimming per se.
She broke the speed record swimming around Manhattan. She set a distance record — for men as well as for women — by swimming 102.5 miles from the Bahamas to Florida. She once lost 29 pounds in 40 hours of swimming. (Marathon swimmers often intentionally gain weight right before a swim, then lose it all before they finish.)

LOL! At row boating the pacific even the vikings have to use sail so that they don't have to row.She was white knighted into doing this, and people around her sugar coated it saying that she will make it.She will have to row non-stop all the way across the pacific, what a dellusional woman.

If it was a dude this thread wouldn't exist. Good for her, she tried at least and made it quite far. Imagine being in the eye of a storm in the middle of the Pacific ffs, 100% of these whiny miscers wouldn't make it farther than 10 miles.

While true she is also delusional to think she had a chance ... I read her bio and it is not very impressive compared to other women who have done solo expeditions. She is also beyond the stage of additional weight for the journey and just out of shape and under qualified - being in a small boat is very physically demanding.
She was no doubt told it was possible by beta WKs ... honeslty just look at that thing so much delusion much failure.
