I don't know.
Are they job requirements for you? If yes, then renew for obvious reasons.
Do you currently have documented experience related to IT more technical than help desk level (EG: you are currently working as a sysadmin)? If no, then I would certainly renew.
I used the following:
https://certification.comptia.org/co...ster-ce-course
It's the CE course from CompTIA that lets you renew without having to take the test again. My work paid for it, and I got it done in like an hour. No brainer.

Are you already working in tech? Comptia certs are garbage and are not worth it if you already have a job in IT. So far S+ is only useful if you're going to work for the government. If you want to move into a networking role I highly suggest you get the CCNA and quickly because the new version of the CCNA will be released in Feb 2020.

It's hot down here. And it's only getting hotter. It's hot and humid for 6-7 months of the year. I make fun of Maine because I hate it but if you like it good for you.
The area is fantastic for IT. I work at Cisco. RTP (Research Triangle Park) near Raleigh has a ton of amazing IT jobs. Charlotte had a bunch of jobs for banks like BoA and Wells Fargo. I work with them all the time. Verizon has a big regional office near here.Panthers/Tar Heels/Hurricanes/Durham Bulls

So many people I know are doing Python. I'm not big on programming.
In sick news was told this week I'm being promoted to shift lead. So going to be one of 2 people responsible for 25 people in a network ops center. Haven't been given the full offer but I'm kinda pumped.Panthers/Tar Heels/Hurricanes/Durham Bulls

Well, after getting sidetracked for the past year, tomorrow I’m going to start studying for the CCNA and try and pass before 20th Feb when the new CCNA curriculum lands.
I did ponder starting to study for the new exam, but everything I’ve read says to instead try and pass the old one if you can before the time is up.
First up is trying to get ccent done before Christmas.

Server or small plane?
Happy mid-week!
I’ve been thinking about getting myself a small server to host a VPN box and some VMs for playing around with SQL Server and some business intelligence stuff. I plan on running Debian/Ubuntu or maybe a BSD on it as the host and using VirtualBox to run the guests. I noticed Dell is having a Black Friday special, so I spec’d out what should be a decent little box based on a PowerEdge R240 Server.
Processor
Intel® Pentium G5500 3.8GHz, 4M cache, 2C/4T, no turbo (54W)

The concern I have primarily is noise. I’m in a one-story house, and I don’t want to listen to a small plane when I’m trying to go to sleep. I guess I could turn it off each night, but that seems to run against the point of having a server. I was going to put this in a room down the hallway, probably in the closet. This could cut down on noise (it would also be fairly idle over night) but then the concern is adequate airflow. Thoughts are appreciated.
If you know of a server that is truly quiet, I’d like to hear more details. Research turned up the Fujistu Primergy line of servers, but I can’t get any pricing details unless I deal with a reseller.

I have this https://www.microcenter.com/product/...,-tall-version
It's super quiet, I have it running 24/7 and I don't even hear it. I added 32 GB of memory and a 1TB SSD.

I interviewed for a technical role and it ended up being all paperwork. My team was really junior and when i tried to steer them in the right direction they tried to use past performance to justify they way they were doing business. It ended up being all wrong and a few years of work wasted on our (their) part, lots of egg on face, no credibility with the customer, etc.
