Pretty sure Palmyra has like 10km of underground tunnels that were one of the oldest dated archeological digs that uncovered a mufti-faceted underground civilization that had just been abandoned.
It has scribbles and drawings underneath the tunnels of "Gods in the Sky" having a huge battle in the air with their flying chariots throwing balls of fire and lightning that left holes in the ground. Hence why they created the tunnel system and underground civilization; to hide from the warring Gods.
