Could anyone actually Nuke the United States ?

to think our national defense would never let something through like that. But these North Koream muhfukkas seem pretty confident.

how could they get through? attack us electronically then bomb us while we are defenseless?? fuarkkk

In spite of all the sanctions, the DPRK sees no option but to pursue its nuclear weapons program. Park maintained that his country does indeed have the missile capability to strike mainland United States and would do so if the U.S. "forced their hand."

the US has a laser defense system, patriot missiles all sorts of sht. Nukes can be shot down in the sky and won't detonate.
Basically right before they land is when the uranium bullet gets shot which causes the chemical reaction of the nuclear explosion.

Not to mention N. Korea is under 24/7 surveillance. The only reason why the US hasn't completely fukked up N.Korea is because China is their personal bodyguard.

NK does not have a reliable delivery source yet. Other countries do though.

An EMP also needs a delivery system, which has to get through our defenses. The same defenses that will protect against the nukes. They are all over the continent and even beyond, so it is highly unlikely that anything could get through based on a technology standpoint. The real risk for the US is the human in the loop. Somone has to authorize launches. The US would be so hesitant to launch, it could jeopardize the defense system.

I bet it would be seriously easy. The country is too big for them to constantly monitor. Shipping containers go largely unchecked. Put a bunch of them on some semi's with remote drivers. Boom. Not much to defend against that.

North Korea? Probably not. Russia, probably China and various US allies however could.

The problem with North Korea is that they could easily nuke South Korea and Japan which isn't something we want either.

North Korea lacks the ballistic technology to deliver a missile to the mainland US, or even Hawaii. A Russian nuclear attack would just overwhelm our defenses with hundreds of warheads simultaneously. A Chinese attack would come from a submarine, close to our coast, and fly under the missile defense system.

So yes, lots of people could nuke the US. North Korea or Iran or Pakistan could easily sneak a nuke in a shipping container and boom, New York, Houston, Seattle or San Francisco is fuarked.

Could many countries? Without doubt. Would they? I'll just leave this here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutual_assured_destruction

I heard a quote something a long the lines of "It's not the country with 10,000 I fear, it's the country/person with 1 I fear"

huh? for which country is miami the closest point of land? and dont say cuba, they definitely dont have nukes...

and if the russians had a submarine off the east coast, they wouldn't target Miami, that's for sure...

Many countries would be able to launch one here. Whether one would get through our defenses is unlikely I would think. Not worth the risk imo when you consider what would follow from the US.

Actually I think we could, just put one of our trident subs off your coastline and fire from really close range, US would never expect it

Not that that would happen but ya know

Typical low IQ phucks in this thread know nothing and think America is invincible LMAO (srs). Yes they could easily. It's called nearly undetectable electric subs...

"75 dB QUIETER THAN A HUMPBACK WHALE
    Too Quiet to Detect

Picking up the quiet hum of a battery-powered, diesel-electric submarine in busy coastal waters is “like trying to identify the sound of a single car engine in the din of a major city,” says Rear Admiral Frank Drennan, commander of the Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command."

Price tags ranging from $200-$300 million put diesel-electric subs within reach of smaller, volatile countries. In fact, Russia has been selling diesel-electric subs to buoy its shipyards, triggering what some are calling an undersea arms race. Reportedly, Algeria has ordered two, Venezuela is expecting five, and Indonesia will have six subs by 2020. Iran claims to have a fleet of 17 diesel-electric subs.

MIRV = Multiple independently targetable reentry vehicle. Nukes that split into more Nukes, yeah the US would maybe be able to intercept a few Nukes, but when there's dozens and dozens of them coming in they just overwhelm any defences, and its only 1 that needs to get through.

SLBM = Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile. They could in theory park a couple of miles off the coast of any major city and do a hit and run, which would be very hard to do anything about

Russia probably would target every major US city, I don't think after the fallout the US would have much of a population
