Does 5/3/1 have to be long?

I was considering starting 5/3/1 boring but big, and was wondering if I should instead of every month increase by 10%, increase every two weeks. Would I stall out faster that way? I'll do what needs to be done to get some results and better numbers. And if anyone has done 5/3/1 what were your results from completing the challenge?

Stick to the program as written unless youre more experienced

It is boring...however. The simplest strength template is much more fun

Will follow as written. I was just worried about having to change my program because of collegiate sports, so I wanted to see if I can milk the progress quicker.

Just noticed you're 18. You might want to consider a program with faster progression. How long have you been lifting?

I would recommend a more linear program dude, like a 5x5.

Your gains are going to be hella slow if you start with 531 - take the advantage of your n00b gains and then do 531 later in life.

For instance I did a 3x5/5x5 program for years and now that my numbers are up i'm about to start teh 531 BBB

I've been lifting since September. I've did bill starr 5x5 but my bench got stuck at 230x2 (3 with a spotter) I am currently trying to get my squat up due to weak knees from wrestling. It's at 250x3 but it goes up 10lbs a week. I'm currently running PHAT but I don't really care for the program. 5/3/1 looked pretty interesting but I figured it would be too slow.

I'll look up Texas method. BTW does anyone think I'll be able to progress on SL because I never tried those beginner programs, I went straight to bill starr 5x5 and went from 175x5 to 205x5 when I started out

    Try Texas method out.

It is 3 days comprised of Volume, Light, Intensity.

Volume day you'll be doing Squat and Bench, 5x5. Every week you add 5lbs.

Light Day do 2x5 at about 80% of the weight you used on Volume

Intensity you push for a 1-3-5RM PR in squat bench and deads

    Rinse repeat each week.

I'll start TM on monday. I'm pretty stoked because it looks like I'll PR just about every week. I'll be able to get my bench past 230x3
