Everything you see while in The Matrix are computer programs carrying out assigned jobs. They don't know they are programs and are not aware they are part of the system (they are not "unplugged" as Morpheus would say). The agent is well ... an agent of The Matrix itself. It's job is to make sure everything is functioning as normal and is aware of the The Matrix. You can think of all the ordinary people as programs on a computer (iTunes, Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and the agents are the operating system (Windows, OS X, Linux) and are aware of all things happening.
The oracle is from an older version of The Matrix and seems to be more aware than others. She doesn't really see the future as she says stuff that makes you do what is needed.

because the way the comment is written comes off as threat.
He felt you talked down to him and stated he was going to neg you, you came back with a "you better be joking", regardless if the way you meant it was different then how it came out. Being a mod you shouldn't even have made that comment in the first place.

Smith was programmed with the sole intent of ending the war between the robot city and Zion you potato. they explain it like 1000 times in the movie that Neo/Smith are two sides of the same coin.
Oracle does see smith coming to absorb her and lets him because she planned on him doing all that chitFormer FA rotter Crew

Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?
That's exactly my point. Exactly. Because you have to wonder: how do the machines know what Tasty Wheat tasted like? Maybe they got it wrong. Maybe what I think Tasty Wheat tasted like actually tasted like oatmeal, or tuna fish. That makes you wonder about a lot of things. You take chicken, for example: maybe they couldn't figure out what to make chicken taste like, which is why chicken tastes like everything.

Touche! I was already out of the matrix (mentally) when I first watched it but I do remember walking around picking things up just to see how real they felt afterwards.
Talking of Neo superpowers, one of my fave parts of the film is where he stops the machine outside the matrix. Hnnng. Also, when he is blind but still can see, how fuarking burriful. It's genius seriously it is.☆ pUniCepts Appreciation Crew ☆ Owner ☆ Σ ☆

The Oracle is a program created by the machines into thinking humans have choice. They can either accept the matrix or leave it and go to Zion. She is another means of control. The matrix was created hundreds of years before Neo reached the Architect. It was the 6th version of it. Each and every matrix the same cycle happens. (Humans build Zion, Machines Attack Zion and Destroy it, Some Humans Escape then Rebuild Zion Again) Over and over the machines control the humans number with this scheme. Humans are uploaded into the matrix, they either accept it, or leave and rebuild zion. The machines destroy zion then the One(Neo) chooses 6 females and 4 males to rebuild it.
Something has changed within this matrix version. A virus named Smith learns to replicate itself. Smith is a new type of program that is free hence why he states "he is unplugged" in the 2nd film to Neo. He is a program with emotion that later becomes free.
At the same time the Oracle see's what has occurred to smith and decides to take a gamble. She's tired of the cycle and allows smith to take over. She tells Neo to go to Machine City and speak to Ex Machina. The brain machine that oversees machine city. Smith has taken over the matrix and the machines don't have control anymore.
Neo decides to strike a peace deal with Ex Machina. This time Zion will no longer be attacked and rebuilt like previous times. Neo defeats Smith and Zion is finally free to rebuild.
Any humans that want to escape the matrix can without fighting.
Hope this helps

Lol @ you not understanding The Matrix. I bet you don't even have a STEM major you fuking pleb! Bow down to the true form of high art! Praise Nolan and his docking scenes. The Matrix doesn't even have practical effects like the perfect masterpiece Interstellar is. Also, no Hans Zimmer? Lol! Go fuk yourself *******.

Agent Smith hates humans because he cannot understand the ego, the quintessential human quality allowing for choice. When Neo "enters" Smith in the first movie after dying and resurrecting, he transfers some of his own programming to Smith, namely the ego or the "I am".
Smith's code is not compatible with the function of the one, that function being choice. His program is now stuck in the loop of choosing not to choose. Smith proliferates endlessly in the second two films as an expression of this fundamental error. He assimilates all free will into the will to not choose.
The Oracle is the outer boundary of the matrix. She see's the future because to her, the entire matrix is contained within her. Imagine a sphere, she is the surface. Looking inwards, she sees the "future".
The Architect, depersonified, is the substance composing the symbols of the matrix. Where the Oracle is the outer boundary, the Architect is the hidden center. He is the light impregnating the dark. Together they give birth to the Matrix.
In a way, Neo is much like the architect. He too is one of the symbols of the matrix, namely The One. His identity is similar to the number 1. In any other symbol, the one can be found, and one is the foundation from which all other symbols are built. He is the unavoidable ratio between the Architect (light) and the Oracle (dark). If you remember the scene at the very beginning of Revolutions of the Golden fractal, Neo can be seen as the edge where the light meets the darkness. The ratio is unavoidable because no matter how close you look, there is still a division between light and dark, but it is never clear exactly where the division is. This uncertainty in the face of absolute certainty provides for the main function of The One, choice.Last edited by Strelok; 04-25-2015 at 04:23 PM.

good post, but now i'm more convinced that the oracle character is just complete bs they whipped up.
srs why would the machine make a program that had emotions and talked in that mysterious old lady way.
if she's a program she would just do her job and nothing more.
she wouldn't be smiling and being a cheeky kunt all the time.
agent smith wouldn't do nothing but his job no matter what, that's how a program works.
guess the movie was just a half backed concept all along.

Why would humans make machines that end up turning on them and enslaving them?
The machines in the Matrix aren't 'perfect'; that is why there are multiple versions of the Matrix that attempt to fix problems found within previous installments. The Agents are given super-human power so that they can "police" the system. Smith, however, becomes self-aware. Imagine him as being AI that develops self-awareness from within the computer system itself.
