Agreed OP.
Did you know giraffes were probably common targets for hunters throughout Africa. Different parts of their bodies were used for different purposes. Their meat was used for food. The tail hairs served as flyswatters, bracelets, necklaces and thread. Shields, sandals and drums were made using the skin, and the strings of musical instruments were from the tendons. The smoke from burning giraffe skins was used by the medicine men of Buganda to treat nose bleeds. The Humr people of Sudan consume the drink Umm Nyolokh; which is created from the liver and marrow of giraffes. Umm Nyolokh often contains DMT and other psychoactive substances from plants the giraffes eat such as Acacia; and is known to cause hallucinations of giraffes, believed to be the giraffes' ghosts by the Humr. In the 19th century, European explorers began to hunt them for sport. Habitat destruction has hurt the giraffe, too: in the Sahel, the need for firewood and grazing room for livestock has led to deforestation. Normally, giraffes can coexist with livestock, since they do not directly compete with them.
The giraffe species as a whole is assessed as Least Concern from a conservation perspective by the IUCN, as it is still numerous. However, giraffes have been extirpated from much of their historic range including Eritrea, Guinea, Mauritania and Senegal. They may also have disappeared from Angola, Mali, and Nigeria, but have been introduced to Rwanda and Swaziland. Two subspecies, the West African giraffe and the Rothschild giraffe, have been classified as Endangered, as wild populations of each of them number in the hundreds.

Hunting and poaching are not the same thing, *******s. Hunting is limited in such a way as to help the species. Killing a 14 year old lion that will never reproduce and will just eat up all the food for the rest of the population is good for the species. So is the 100k dollars the hunter paid to the conservation effort to fight off poachers who don't care if the animal they kill is able to reproduce or not.
If hunting a certain animal harmed the species it would be illegal, simple as.
And if you're worried about people killing animals for sport and not food, just relax. Sport makes up for maybe 0.0000000000001% of all animal kills.
In the time it took me to write this a whole football field full of chickens was probably slaughtered and none of you care.Repping funny posts on sight

Yeah, I would never trophy hunt, but people will pay big bucks to do it and the reserves need all the cash they can get. Without trophy hunting they'd have to rely on charity and government funding to fight off poachers. Crustie hippies generally aren't that forthcoming with their chequebooks.
Rickie Gervais could afford to sponsor the entire population of an endangered species to prevent them being used in trophy hunts but he prefers to make snide comments about hunters on twitter. Most of these hippies' attitudes are at odds with what's actually best for conservation efforts. Which is no surprise, female logic is rife with these lefty tards. They would rather the animals were left alone to starve than have their population carefully managed if it involves killing some of them.Last edited by walshyn93; 04-24-2015 at 06:59 AM.

I am aware but being a hunter myself if someone put me in front of that beast and handed me a bow and arrow I'd be questioning my morals. Culling the animal my be good for its own species and their food source etc (despite removing such a vast quantity of food out of the cycle for other species but anyway) but you still have to think of the animal not suffering and I doubt that with an arrow puncture to the chest it went down straight away or within 15mins. Their heart is massive and is solid muscle. That arrow didn't look to have gone more than 12-16inches deep so the animal probably died of internal bleeding.
