I agree, loved the 1st movie but honestly think The Empire Strikes Back is the best of them. had such high hopes for Lucas when he finally decided to make the last 3...aka actually the first 3 in the series but was severly let down. He let CGI take over and parts of the movies became overwhelming visually instead of letting the story lead.
I am a major Star Wars geek/nerd and have been since 77 while in Jr High. I have a ton of related crap around my house from the 1st release and have added to it over the yrs, my wife thinks i'm nuts and perhaps I am touched a bit but thats ok."You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? Yeah, well, I don't have one of those."

I went to the theater and saw Star Wars in 77 and was instantly hooked. It played 6 more times in that theater and I watched it all 6 times. Lost my Star Wars cards in a move in 1980, replaced them and lost that set as well. Lost my action figures in the same move and bought my Son an original set, we still have them.
Also in agreement that Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi are the only "real" Star Wars movies.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Saw the first three - multiple times. Never saw the next three - and really don't want to based on what I've heard. Want to see this one.
And I felt so relieved to see what this thread was really about - since we are finally having spring here I really don't want to think Christmas yet. And it's hands-down my favorite holiday.

George Lucas couldn't direct his way out of a paper bag. He's a "big ideas" guy but he needs a producer and director to manage those dreams and cut the bull**** out as best as possible. When that happens you get "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "The Empire Strikes Back". When it doesn't, you get the Star Wars prequels.
+Having the screenwriter from Empire is a big plus as well.
I have high hopes.

I'd like someone to make a new Spawn movie or something like it. That was a bit dark, coming back from hell to kick ass and all that.
I was amazed at the special effects back then in that 1997 movie. Remember this lady brought her 2 yr old into that ****ty FL theatre.
With scenes from a burning hell and all kinds of monsters, I felt bad for the kid. Probably a well adjusted 20 yr old today, lol.
Was never much of a Star Wars fan (love Star Trek though), but remember wanting all those expensive toys as a kid (was too poor ).

I thought that Lucas had killed any excitement I could have for Star Wars but it's hard not to get excited about this.
Can I just have an un-butchered version of the original trilogy on Blu-Ray?There will come a day when I tire of listening to 80's music. That day is not today.
