NO SIGNS OF LIFE!

I urge you to read one or all of the above links, but I'll give cliffs anyways:
1). "Whether an advanced spacefaring civilization uses the large amounts of energy from its galaxy's stars to power computers, space flight, communication, or something we can't yet imagine, fundamental thermodynamics tells us that this energy must be radiated away as heat in the mid-infrared wavelengths"
2). NASA’s Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) completed a 100,000-galaxy search for objects consistent with galaxies emitting too much mid-infrared radiation emissions.
3). The astronomers have carefully examined the data, and they find no signs.
Possible answers
1) There is no alien life in the 100,000 galaxies, but there may be life elsewhere (Still, how does 100,000 galaxies end up empty?).
2) The fundamental law of thermodynamics is wrong (we just don't know it yet). The aliens are using stuff that doesn't release mid-infrared radiation.
3) The aliens are so unlike us that they, for some odd reason, don't colonize outer space. Somehow, they have stopped all technological developments. Somehow, they have stopped all ambition to explore. Somehow, they have stopped population growth problems and have remained on the resources of one planet for billions of years.
OR
4). There are no aliens.

think for a second how long the human race has been "observable"
less than 200 years.
now look at the age of the universe
over 13,800,000,000 years.
We could exterminate ourselves at any moment, leaving an inconceivably small window of time in which the life on this planet could be observed from such a great distance. Logically the same would be true of other "sentient" lifeforms. It's like looking for a needle in an infinite haystack and you only have a fraction of a second to searchLast edited by Rhotic; 04-16-2015 at 09:18 PM.

The fundamental law of thermodynamics says that they would be easily detectable. See this quote:
"Whether an advanced spacefaring civilization uses the large amounts of energy from its galaxy's stars to power computers, space flight, communication, or something we can't yet imagine, fundamental thermodynamics tells us that this energy must be radiated away as heat in the mid-infrared wavelengths," Wright said. "This same basic physics causes your computer to radiate heat while it is turned on."
You could suppose the fundamental laws of thermodynamics that we know is wrong, but that is just that --- a supposition.

implying aliens must be hyperintelligent.
Science Fiction of peace.
For all we know, we could actually be the most advanced/intelligent life in the entire universe, which would explain why we have zero point of reference for anything bigger than us and we have all these knee-jerk unanswerable questions.
It's mere speculation. You have to literally reach for the stars to make a judgement call on life or no life lol.Right.

If you really think about it:
-Advanced human civilization is extremely young currently. We are a fart particle in the history of just earth
-Relative to all other galaxies, even if advanced beings did exist, they likely died by now.
-If the beings become advanced enough to create AI, AI likely would eliminate the advanced species and cover it's tracks so no one could find them.
also, the fact our planet formed the perfect distance from the sun, correct size, correct elements, etc etc etc is similar to hitting the powerball 5 times in one human lifetime.Spoiler alert; you die at the end.

I believe that we are not the first life (in terms of Earth) to ever exist in the universe. I think it is likely we may be the only ones living right now. In other words, life may have existed elsewhere before us and died off, and there may be life after us

that's a fallacious argument
we've "searched" less than .01% of the observable universe. the observable universe in all likelihood being the a tiny fraction of what's really out there.
and this "search" is in no way exhaustive. it does not prove that (1) there wasn't previously sentient life there (2) there isn't currently sentient life there, or (3) that there won't be sentient life there. it only proves that during a tiny period of time there was no evidence of sentient life being broadcasted

Maybe actual intelligent life is efficient and doesn't waste precious energy as heat? Crazy idea i know...
