My friend is doing an NPC show and doesn't want to use the tanning personnel there to save money. I'm used to using pro tan and dream tan for OCB and WNBF shows but NPC doesn't allow the dream tan. If we really coated him with Pro Tan for numerous coats then maybe used Jan tana would that work? Mostly looking for ideas and feedback people have had, it would be much appreciated!

It's very simple, if your friend has properly exfoliated there should be no need for more than 2 coats of Pro Tan. The day before apply Pro Tan Overnight Competition Color Base Coat in the morning or afternoon, let it develop for 4-6 hours then apply the second coat. Sleep in it and the day of the competition you will use one of Pro Tan's Top Coats Bronzers: Bikini, Phyqisue, or Body Builder (BB is the darkest color). For more information visit the Pro Tan Website and read the FAQ.

chose one and dont mix them, I did the same mistake - base coat Pro Tan and top coat Jan Tana and came out green-ish, very odd color.
Important to prep skin as it also makes huge difference: exfoliate very well entire body, dont use any moisturizers or creamy shower gels, soap is the best to make skin dryer.
found very interesting comparison, have a read: https://www.figureandbikini.org/a/28...iquid-Sun-Rayz
I also used all of them, my personal favorite - Jan Tana.... Winners make a habit of manufacturing their own positive expectations in advance of the event .... (Brian Tracy)

I've used Jan Tana self tanner for all my IFBB shows. A good exfoliation and absolutely no products on your skin after showering so skin can dry out. A coat or two the night before and maybe a coat the morning of and youre good to go. Even application is key after the 1st coat. the Jan Tana typically darkens over the course of a few hours so dont freak out after coat #1. Wish you the best and tell your friend good luck and have fun!

Wrong.
Jan Tana makes a product called Ultra 1 which requires 1 or 2 coats ONLY.. that is IT.. applied morning of show. I apply my tanner, coat 1 @ 6:00am and coat 2, 15 minutes after I finish applying coat 1. Color comes out awesome, drys on contact, goes on flawess and you don't have to sleep in it. I've practically been the darkest by far at all my shows.
With that being said, I have a friend who uses liquid sun rayz for collegiate nationals and loved it and his color was very nice as well. Both companies I think highly off.
The amount of coats needed for protan just makes it pointless IMO.. who the hell wants to start applying tanner wednesday. Hell, i wont even dare do it the night before.

This may be a dump question, but why skimp on the tan? Why not use the guys that are at the compitition?
He's dieted his ass off for weeks, countless hours in the gym doing cardio and weights, just to potentially have it go wrong with a poor application of a tan.
Maybe that's just me. I do like to play it safe.

I see, not exactly sure Im just going based on information im finding and gathering as to when to tan. Im going with Protan personally.
2. Id think you want to be pumped so why not go the day before for a light session. Obviously for the most part everything is going to be what it is once you are 3 days away more or less. So do people" pump " up before going on stage? Like pushups or curls or something - I would believe something is done.

Being a realist, not trying to be a dick bro.. but your knowledge is very little on the subject. You need a coach, you need to find a contest prep coach. Contest prep is extremely confusing with a billion different variables that you will fail miserably at with out a coach. It is to much to manage on your own. You need to learn these things through your coach with so many different variables coming into play.
Keep researching and learning.. You need to understand the exfoliation process, the lotion process, the shaving, etc. all which is essential to prep your skin in order to absorb the tanner agents properly. Why Pro tan? Jan Tana is FAR superior and much easier to work with imo.

I know this is an older topic but i'll just add that i've done my own tan using all kinds of different products, dream tan, Jan tana, Overnight Competition color, and so on... You can achieve some good color on your own but just pay the professionals to do it. I've found it to be much less stressful than taking on this task on my own plus they usually do a great job. Just add it to your prep budget next time.

I agree with this. I have done the tan myself a few times and I was either 2 light or I was orange, Talk your friend out of this idea of doing it yourself. Have the appointed tanning company do it. Secondly you'll make a huge mess in you hotel room or house.
The tan and the stage posing are very important, he just trained for weeks and weeks and dieted like a champ but none of that will matter if his tan sucks because the judges will knock him down because that is part of the "presentation"
Don't cut corners for show day. Save money by buying less expensive food or gym clothes or supplements. Not on what you need the day of the show.
