Thumbs down Vitamin Shoppe Pulls Products After Speed-Like Drug Found in Dietary Supplements

Supplement industry is like the wild west, just like last time when GNC had supplements that didnt even contain the herbs on the label but a house plant instead.

Jetfuel T-300 and Jetfuel Superburn are among the diet supplements that are being pulled from The Vitamin Shoppe stores for containing an amphetamine-like substance

Honestly, I would bet money on almost 1/4-1/3 of all thermogenics/fat burners to contain an outlawed/"not technically legal" ingredient in it. Meth-like substances really do help with cutting appetite and burning calories, that's the sad truth

Here's the full article and the amounts contained in the products. It was posted in a thread the other day, but I'm assuming that was closed due to arguing.

That products had its issues in the past if you look around, maybe vitamin shoppe is just erring on the side of caution.

The BMPEA was found in there... I don't think it's necessarily caution. I wouldn't be surprised if these products were no longer sold on here pretty soon.

Edit: I see jetfuel t-300 is "CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE"

That's a supply issue... Not because of this

I'm here, I just don't have anything to add yet... I sent this over to GAT to see what's up, but my normal contacts are in Germany at FIBO, so it's going to take a little bit.

My personal opinion is it's another DMAA witch hunt, if you look at the study all of the reference studies ( or most of ) are authored by the same guy. Not saying he's wrong (I'm an Engineering not a Bio major) but it's kinda odd... I've taken all the JetFuel line and I'm a stim junkie, but if it's being compared to a Amphetamine, it's the weakest one I've every taken... No where close to 1,3...

Anyways, as soon as I get more info I'll post it here for everyone.

    Greg

Yes, I know. A lot of companies had issues circa 2008.

Interested to see what comes of this.

Yeah, I dunno, whenever someone brings it up it gets ignored. In fairness to iForce, the Acacia Rigula extract (the alleged source of BMPEA) is listed on the label, whereas with a lot of the other supplements listed it isn't.

This right here - as long as companies are printing what's on the label, then go for it! Only selling to 18+ individuals anyways - adults who can make informed decisions.

Hell, bring back Craze and just put "amphetamines" on the label. Let people decide for themselves what they want to put in their bodies. Leaving **** off of the labels though, is just dangerous and irresponsible.

I can't agree with this though...if it is "amphetamines" and you put on label, still should not be sold. I mean what 18-21 year old do you know that thinks like an adult. I was there a long time ago, and can tell you now...I did not think like an adult. Sometimes I think back, and call my younger self stupid for doing all sorts of dumb stuff. So, just keep the illegal stuff off...it needs to be tested etc. The problem with some of this stuff is that it goes untested and 5-10 years from now you wonder why your liver does not work etc.

The idea behind adding this stuff to supplements has been that BMPEA comes from Acacia Rigula extract and is therefore a "natural herbal supplement," though I'm not sure there's any evidence of this.

So where are you going to draw the line of what is considered an adult? Are you saying that a 40 year old should be allowed to buy amphetamines, but not a 21 year od? By 21 you are an adult in the eyes of the law; you're tried as an adult in court, you can buy alcohol and cigarettes, and you can serve in the military. There's still an argument about if some drugs should be legalized, and that's a legitimate argument (although it's not the point of this thread), but legalizing said drugs only for people at some age older than 21 because you weren't responsible at 21 doesn't make sense to me. Hell, I know 40 and 50 year olds who don't think like adults and are completely irresponsible.

what I find so interesting is how something is claimed to be illegal, yet found to be present in the herb/food supply in nature and quantifiable amounts

Camp & Norvell 1966 evaluated a number of additional Acacia species including Acacia rigidula. They reported Acacia rigidula to contain 0.025% total alkaloid by dry weight and identified: beta-Methylphenethylamine.

You know that is a question that I ponder a lot...especially since I have kids. I honestly think that around 25 (which is when you are probably when you are done with higher education)...but again that is how I feel. You bring up good points about the law...but also, our laws sometimes do not make sense to me...so you can serve in the military and die for your country...but you can't buy a drink? Again, yes there are 40 years olds that are not mature...but I believe Darwinism to take care of this lol...I just think especially in between that 18-21 year old range kids are trying impress someone and thus will try anything to get ahead of the game. But funny thing is...they allow stuff like this...but you can't smoke pot legally in most states...does that make sense?
