Shoes, back belt, versa gripps, bro tanks

    1) What shoes should I look for? I usually get "crosstrainers" that are great for jogging on the track, but absolutely suck for leg presses and squats. I think a basketball shoe might be a better idea... maybe a mid top? Was wondering if anyone jogs and lifts in these. I need an all-in-one.

    2) Weight lifting belt - I need the best and cheapest there is.

    3) Versa Gripps - anyone have these? Anyone in love with them? Everyone I've talked to loves them that has them. Looking for opinions.

    4) Bro tanks - saw some really cool ones at Wal-Mart yesterday. Problem is they weren't long enough. I just want some cheaper ones to wear in the gym or out and about in the Summer. Anywhere I can look?

    Will rep for responses.

    One addition:

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

This. I bought them around 6 months ago and was iffy on them at first - but I use them for every back workout now. If you're a powerlifter and need to work on grip strength or forearms then you may not want them. But if you want to target your back without grip/forearm restrictions then they are great. Some people use them for push exercises too. I tried it and wasn't a big fan.

Chucks as in Chuck Taylors by Converse? I could see them being good for squatting, but for jogging?

    1. New Balance Minimus is what I use. Flat incompressible sole with no arch. Perfect for me.
    2. Bestbelts.net. Maybe not the cheapest but def the best.
    3. When I'm using straps (which isn't very often on the barbell) I'm using my versa grips. I love them. I especially love them for pullups and chinups at the end of my workout when my grip is fried but I want to do some burn out sets.
    4. I don't wear tanks but I'd check REI. Can usually get some good deals on tanks/Ts that are moisture wicking and perfect for the gym. Cotton will start to stink

I have a pair of New Balance and they're falling apart. Great for jogging, not so great for squatting & doing leg presses. The top part of the shoe is soft so the ankle seems to roll over in them.

I wouldn't use basketball shoes to squat or leg press with. I have a pair of Chucks that I lift in and I like them. But I'm not a big fan of doing cardio with them on.

My son and a lot of his buds use Nike Free 3.0 or 5.0 's in the weight room and for short runs (plyo's, sprint training for football, etc). Having said that, he's going to get a more cushioned ride for running work as he has a slight foot injury he's nursing from over use (weight lifting, throws training, and sprint work) and use the trainers in the weight room.
