    1 cup oats=26g protein

What is the difference between oats and oatmeal? According to Google (if you type in oats), oats have 26g of protein in a cup, and a total of 600+ kcals. However, if you click the drop down arrow and select oatmeal, only has 6g of protein in a cup, with a total of less than 200kcals.

I'm confused as heck. I tried to find oats last night at three different grocery stores and couldn't find them anywhere.

    Someone please explain this.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

That's what I use! Was wondering if theres a special brand of oats that I need to buy.

It's a simple question. Do you know what the difference is? Or if there's a specific kind of oats that I need to buy in order to get 26g of protein per cup? Thanks.

    This.

'Oats' are the raw product, before adding any liquid and being cooked.

'Oatmeal' is their version of the cooked product. I wouldn't use this info because you don't know if they cooked in milk/water, and how long they cooked for.

No, they're just made up of a lot less actual oats, and a lot more water. 1 cup of raw oats, vs. 1 cup of a prepared product that has had a lot of liquid added to it. Is this really a mystery ?

Okay I think I get it. The nutritional facts are based on 1 cup of cooked oats. So if I measured a cup of raw oats and cooked them, it would provide the 26g protein correct?

Yeah oatmeal is pretty good and filling. Having a hard time finding oats that have 26g of protein per cup measured raw. Any ideas?

I'm guessing the nutritional facts that I saw were cooked oats with milk. That's the only thing I can think of.

There are "oats" out there in packages that also contain nuts, fruit, dried milk powder, even protein powder. Hard to say what label someone was looking at when entering data. But plain raw oats would have a bout 5gm per 1/2 cup dry.

My value oats are only 11g protein per 100g but that's great for a carb source and the milk will add more than that. So its not a massive protein source just good wholesome food. You could mix protein powder in with it though

That's not a bad idea! Do I add the protein after I cook the oatmeal?

So here's what I did last night (doing IF). 1 cup of oatmeal (10g protein total), and 2 cups of milk (20g protein). Cooked for 4min. Added another cup of milk to cool it down some and for some more protein and carbs (another 10g protein). Total protein is 40g. Total carbs is 96g. This doesn't include the butter an brown sugar I added lol
