Clay pitched 7 shutout innings.
Betts+Pedroia+Ramirez combined to go
7 for 13, 5 HR, 8 RBI, 6 R, 2BB
Everyone looked great defensively(except Clay)

It's a 162 game season, but it never hurts to start off with a good win.

Why the ****?

This makes me rage, he had a good season last year. The contract is worth 82.5 mill over 4 years. Anyone care to explain how this is more reasonable than going after a star pitcher during the off season?

It was, I admit, I think there's a lot of upside to Porcello, he's 26. He's coming off the best season of his career and entering the prime of his career. It could make the Red Sox look like wizards if this deal turns out well.

yea i was surprised....you sign a guy to a ton of cash and then send em to triple A....its not like he didnt get major league experience at the end of the season last year

The girlfriends dad got her and i NYY @ BOS for may 3 in juicy seats down low behind homeplate-1b. He won round trip airfare too when he was at some dinner during Spring Training. We have free hotel because her family lives there too. I'm so fukin in. I'll post pics if this thread stays active.

i get to see my boy Hanley Ramirez. I'm really looking forward to touring Boston and all the history, etc. Only been to BOS once and that was out west in Marlborough for a hockey tournament.

Anyone see a strong upside to the starting pitching?

Porcello pitched well yesterday and was one pitch away from 6 scoreless innings.

Masterson pitching tonight really has a chance to show his worth. Pretty much think he'll be a guy that hangs a ~3.5 ERA, start about 35 games.
