Yeah bruh, I honestly think this is the reason. A few years ago when I first got into computers, it was awesome. In WoW we had a guild and I became friends with all of them. Also, my cousin and his friend gamed a lot. I'd bring my PC and go to my cousins house. We would have a LAN party about once a week. Now, everyone in that guild doesn't talk anymore. I think one of them still game, he's still on a lot. Everyone else isn't sadly. I don't even think it's the gaming I miss, it's the cool people I gamed with.

Been playing Tibia quite a bit recently, I have a lot of unplayed games on my Xbox one but I can't be damned to play it other than the occasional Halo game.
I always do this though, be really into my xbox or an mmo for awhile, then a period of time where i dont play it. Then back to playing it. Comes and goes brahs▲▼▲5'7" Master Race Crew▲▼▲

Know this feel. I think half the reason I keep playing is because of achievements and the completionist side of me wants to get through all of them. Grinding for irrelevant point totals which I dont really care about, and not enjoying the actual experience. I can still get into movies and the like but gaming has been stale for me for a while.

I said that. Then I played Fire Emblem and Twilight Princess. And Super Mario Galaxy 2. All depends.
When I played Bioshock, Battlefield, Dark Souls, I ALWAYS wanted to put the game down. Especially Dark Souls. That game was just bad. I don't care what the online community says about it, it was a bad game in so many respects. I don't even know why my brother and I BOTH played it as long as we did. I think after we started though, it was just so bad we had to laugh it at. It was like a train wreck we couldn't look away from.

I know these feels. The few I have gotten that feeling back with...lasted a week or two. Then the addiction dropped off and I was bored of it.
Big part of it is not having as much free time. But I also find most games to suck in their vanilla state nowadays. No substance in the competitive play or anything. So I mostly resort to heavily modded single player games that become enjoyable only because of those mods. Victoria 2, EU4, Total War games etc.
Red Orchestra 2 is the only multiplayer game I really like anymore. Really fun realistic ww2 shooter, has a bit of a learning curve. Main focus is the Russians & Germans on the Ostfront, and they also added in the Pacific theater.
Games now focus so much effort on earning their money back off of preorders, and sacrifice quality as a result because they don't need to do as much once it releases due to all the preorders. That and DLC - developers make a full game, strip out 25% of it, then try to sell that 25% back to you in a month as a DLC pack.
I definitely lay a portion of the blame on the corporate side of things, gaming was big but not anywhere near this big in the early/mid 2000s and a lot of developers were able to focus on putting out quality stuff.Übermensch

Agreed. Growing up is weird.
I'm in my early 20s and the guys on my CSGO/Counterstrike teams tend to be 14-18 years old. They 40 hours a week and go to highschool. I fit in 10-15 hours a week when I go "All out" playing for a few matches/leagues.
It's still fun, but I have better uses of my time. I'll continue to enjoy gaming for 10~ hours a week. It's one of my many hobbies - I'll spend 8-12 hours a week cycling/biking in the spring/summer/fall for fun. 1-2 days with the GF. I have a few hobbies I indulge in... but there is no more 14 hours of a binge in World of Warcraft"Train by day, Joe Rogan podcast by night all day!"
