one thing i noticed about many of the rogue accessories like the spotter arms and the monolift arms is that they have pins to keep them from swiveling out. is this something that actually happens? or is Rogue just being extra careful?

I view it as a quality/well thought out equipment.
That said, I have their mono and don't feel the need for them. You would have to rotate them ~30 degrees AND pull back before they'll come loose. One in a million shot IMO.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get out of this thread before it causes a dead lift bar to show up on my doorstep.SQ 475# 5/26/17 wraps

top heavy makes perfect sense.
seems this way to me too; which is the only reason i asked
can't think of how the spotter arms would need a pin, but figured maybe i was missing something; wouldn't be the first time...Domicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

Dom,
I have noticed the same thing and wondered. Mechanically they all lock in the same as j cups so it's not something I would think is needed from a spontaneous failure like suddenly rotating. I think it's a liability issue to avoid someone knocking them at an angle while walking by or something seeing as they protrude a good way out from the rack. I have spotted arms and I never used them and feel very safe!

The ODB has 1.5" more loadable space on the sleeves than the TDB. I'm not gonna max out my TDB bar anytime soon lol (I have the Rogue comp bumpers) but the extra room is nice. I got the bar for a decent price last Oct when it was on sale...if I didn't have a deadlift bar I'd gives Rogue's a shot. Surprisingly with the amount of Rogue equipment I own, I don't own a single Rogue bar

If I followed correctly this is about the pin on the spotter arms. Someone did mention that the pin was primarily for attaching bands/pegs to the arms so that the tension from below didn't rotate the arms up and out. That's the only thing that made sense to me though not too many people are putting bands on spotter arms (okay option though). I never use the pins on mine but I do have bands attached to the pin handles for shoulder pre/re-hab work.

Yeah, snuck in while you were in the bathroom. Figured it was Ok.
The SSB and Hex were the ones I was trying to "finish" before pics, but my current set up is a little weird. I originally hoped the Rogue storage would work with them, but no go. So I improvised with some cheap Harbor Freight hooks, and they are currently sitting on top of a 2x4 on the ground with a little round groove cut out for spacing. My garage, on that wall, from out underneath the dry wall, is about 2 inches of concrete (both high and wide) that sticks out. So the wall isn't flush with the actual ground, making it weird for bar placement.
In my future house (eta tbd), I'd really like to cut a small strip of horse stall mat, glue to the bottom of a small 1 inch board, and then cut a 2 inch circle out of that board. So the end of the bar would sit inside that hole for stability, but be nice on the rubber mat. Then I could use a smaller hook, and it would be much cleaner and closer to the wall. As is, any smaller of a hook and the thing trys to escape, which would be dropping an 80lb trap bar on my car.My personal motto is Better than Yesterday. This defines who I am, my view of the world, and my goals in life. Each day, I try to be a little better than I was the day before. A little smarter, a little stronger, a little happier.

no you didn't, i'm anal about keeping my phone on me, and i play clash of clans while pooping so stop lying.
anyhow great fix for storing your stuff. i think you've got a great idea to keep things clean, except maybe just use wood? seems like cutting a corner off of the horse stall mat would be annoying and then leave you with a mangled mat.
it says steel but then says it's made from cast iron? still, looks awesome; curious how pricing will beDomicron's Basement Gym and Fun House

Yeah, one of the things I love about them - they keep pushing out new stuff. Really focusing on powerlifting lately - OPB last year, color racks, monolift attachments, new line of power racks (monster 2.0), new reverse hyper, deadlift bar, kg pl discs, etc. Not all of the products are hits, but they're always churning out new stuff. Every morning I check their closeout and the new gear sections of their website. I've had good luck getting bars off their closeout section - so I always keep an eye on it.

Bar flex does make it easier to pull if you're strong enough to pull the slack out of the bar and time it when the plates separate from the floor. From my experience, and I pull over 700 and train with guys who pull over 800, the stronger guys off the floor benefit most from bar flex because their speed off the floor helps create more momentum for the lockout.

This surprised me as well considering I know guys they talked to who gave input on bar specs, I thought they would've included the thoughts of the Sumo crowd who would want more knurl in the center. My guess is that Rogue wants to make things as uniform as possible so that a CF box can purchase a DL bar if they want and it won't look foreign to them if they don't compete in PLing.

i'm curious if there's a market for them. i don't follow powerlifting at all so i don't know, but i always figured my issue with hand placement was just on account of my small frame. i figured most of the big guys wouldn't have problems with hand placement at all...

I can't see there being a really big market for a Sumo specific bar. Some guys like to take a really narrow width grip on Sumo to maximize their leverage and that's why you see some DL bars knurled that way. I'd be shocked if Rogue releases another version of a DL bar to appease a small percentage of lifters, but maybe I'm wrong. As it is, it's not like there's a huge demand for a DL bar (relatively speaking as compared to a standard barbell and its many uses), we're already talking about a pretty niche market.

Found another Rogue Dog Sled clone today, pretty much the same specs @ $275 shipped. It appears to have skis attached, hard to tell though if they are UHMW or metal though. Either way, holes would be pre-drilled to add UHMW if you preferred. Just thought it was interesting, the Rogue Dog Sled is still awesome though.
