How much more expensive would it be to make a 300lb. stack adjustable height cable system than just a high/low row set up? I know it wouldn't make sense for a commercial setting, but I think it's be perfectly flexible for home gyms.

I'm not sure I follow. Do you mean a cable column?

Yeah just a single stack cable column that would have a heavy enough stack to double as a low row.

If you want an adjustable output height, you need a pulley on top of the stack. So choose either 1:2 ratio, or double output. Like the one I have on my rack. 2 handles. Have to use both to get full 1:1 (300 lbs). Use one only and it's 1:2.
As for extra cost, well it's extra pulleys and pop-pins for the height adjustment. If you want the outputs to swivel side-to-side, there's that also. And a bit more steel.
I'm pretty sure Magnum made one like this years ago. I remember it from efs videos.
EDIT: here you go. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EftXlutdeWE not sure if it's magnum

Enjoy the OPB. She's a beauty. For the price, they really knocked it out the park with those bars.

Thanks. I'm importing some special (read: cheap) oil just for the bar. My family runs a small tailoring factory, and they use this particular sewing machine oil that does not stain clothes. I don't know the exact make up of the oil, looks just like baby oil or mineral oil to me. I can't find it anywhere else.

For all I know, it's just some cheap mineral oil.

And I got a nylon brush just for the bar.

I'm building my home gym one part at a time. The bar is here. Next I need plates and a rack and a bench. So all my workouts so far are just 45 pounds.

The wife now wants dumbbells and kettlebells.

I'm now wondering if I should go metric or imperial for my plates, if Rogue makes powerlifting plates in pounds, then I might upgrade to those later. If I ever decide to compete, then I might go metric. Bumpers or Cast Iron. I think I'll go get some cheap bumpers.

I'm jonesing pretty hard for that bar.

Only thing is it's so humid here right now that the sound of it rusting would keep me awake at night.

Get the bar. After using, brush it clean, and wipe some oil on it, then store it or wrap it. Before using, just wipe of any excess oil.

They offer a few plating options, although not through rogue. Get it from Duffin directly.

Thanks! Of course I want my kid to follow his father's footsteps. Turn him into MMA champion at age 6, press his own weight, recite pi to 100 digits, speak 5 languages and be the ultimate soldier. Or something.

The wife is convinced I need the rack or stands with spotters for safety reasons. She's not yet convinced to use the bar for herself. Says she wants to make her own program using the bells.

Of course I'm leaning towards a rack and not just stands. Depends on the budget, tells me I have my bar so she needs to get her bells first before I get anything else. Not going to disagree there.

With a little one at home a rack should be a no brainer. I pay about $200/month for life insurance for me and my wife so my kids are taken care of if something happens to me/us.. In the long run, a rack is a hell of a lot cheaper than that.

I'm aware of the other brands Rogue sells, some of which isn't available on their Canadian site(Werksan, Eleiko and York).

My confusion is Mech6 saying the OPB is made by someone else other than Rogue. I went to the Kubuki strength site and the only bar I see is the Duffalo.

You guys are confusing who's talking about what bar, I think.

I have a question, has anyone tried to "hard chrome" their bare steel bars? As in, the type of chrome that is applied to firearms, the "thick" version. Not the bumper of your car version.

Wouldn't that completely ruin the knurl? Seems like it would become pretty difficult to grip for any pulling movements

I figured you knew.. Sounds like some confusion going on. Pretty sure Mech was talking about the Duffalo bar when regarding getting the "coating" options. Rogue does not offer the coatings on the Duffalo bar, only the bare steel version. KabukiStrength.net sells the bar direct and has a few coatings you can add to the bar.

I'm not sure, but I don't think so, especially with the more aggressive knurls. Even though I said "thick" hard chrome, it's measured in the microns or nanometers or something, and doesn't seem to affect tolerances of firearms that much (it has been suggested to use the gun in question at least 500 to 1000 rounds before doing the hard chrome.)

Maybe this wouldn't make sense and just do the whole bar in stainless for what it would cost to hard chrome the bare steel.

esigns.com - Ive made about 10-15 banners through them and every one of them come out great. The prices arent bad either. I suggest doing the indoor banners if you do them and not the regular vinyl. Its a thicker material and stays flatter on the wall.
