I freestyle bmx op. If me, and a few of my buddies were to take a trip there and ride our bikes around and do tricks how well would that go over? Dont want to end up in a prison. Also how did you deal with the language barrier? Do you speak mandarin or cantonese or hoiken or whatever they speak?

get the tokyo subway app on yer phone. makes it easy mode. i even seen the japanease using the app.
when i went there (did 2months oct-dec 2014)
I thought the japanease were actually scared? of foreigners on the subways mostly, was weird even in peak rush hour some were hesitent to sit next to me, if they did they would move the instant another seat became available.
other tourists told me they noticed the same thing. (so no i am not ugly)
nothing is ever late in japan, i must have used hundreds of subways, trains, boats etc all on time to the minute srs never had to wait ever. you don't need a car.
they take politeness/kindness to a whole other level though. Seriously every place i stayed at they treat you like a king. even in all the shops and stores every single staff member were smiling never failed to greet you
in one restaurant i found a slug in my salad,
When i told the waiter he almost cried lol srs he ran off and told the manager, before i knew it i was offered all the food i could eat, free drinks, every staff member came to my table queing up, bowing and apologised even members of the public who don't even work there aplogised on their behalf it was a srs wtf moment and it made me feel guilty. as i left the manager bowed and bowed some more, i don't speak a word so i just said sayornaya and walked out lol
i went to a golds gym in tokyo. I walked to reception a young man was working there probs 18/19 yo i tried to communicate (badly) trying to find out how much for one day to workout, this is were it got weird, he muttered into his collar and walked into a broom closet and closed the door, i never saw him come out. i was like wtf man, i just went into the freeweights area and worked out for free trained for about 2 and a half hours (first workout in like 2 weeks)
i left laughing to myself wondering what the hell happened.
i discovered from this point on i could just walk into any golds and workout for free srs as long as you look cool and casual
i got free workouts in tokyo/osaka/kyoto using this method

I usually feel tall as fun wherever I go bran. Not many people my height.
Tough to say since this was my first time there.... but there were 2 chains that I saw almost everywhere that seems pretty nice. "Apa Hotels" and "My Stays". Both under $100/nt. Multiple hotels in different parts of Tokyo. Look em up on expedia. Or if you really want to go cheap and get a unique experience you can try a capsule hotel. Saw those for under $50/nt.
Passed Disneyland on the train into Tokyo.... that's about it. Didn't have time to go there.
8-10 days is def enough time to cover Tokyo IMO. You could likely split your trip up and do 5 days in Tokyo and 4 days in Kyoto... something like that. Kyoto's about 2.5 hrs away and is much more traditional.
No idea dude. I didn't see any BMXers over there but it's Tokyo... I'm sure that that chit goes on. Maybe in Harajuku district where there a lot of unique styles/people? Google it.
As for the language... you aware that they speak Japanese in Japan?
You can certainly go alone if you're the adventurous type. Just make sure that you do research before you go so you know what there is to see and what the best sights are.
For a week? For sure.

There is an obsessive belief with most of the bigoted losers on the misc that everyone in the world bows to the alter of white people and has the same racialised sick obsession they do. Its a pretty big stretch. Whilst I doubt I would ever feel truly japanese, I have heard nothing but good things about the vast majority of black people who have been there
LOL its why the beta losers on here all seem to think there is nothing but anime porn and tentacle rape in japan too. For the most part alot of anime isnt even that popular over there and hentai fetishists are treated with the same amusement as they are here

TBH you won't have a problem as long as you're respectful and you're reasonably well-dressed/groomed.
There are a lot of Africans there who make their living pimping clubs in the entertainment district (who can be annoying as fuk) so I'd imagine that you can get painted with the same brush if you're thugged out.
I never had a problem though (mixed race). Found everyone nice and people didn't shy away from me on the subway or anything.

thanks brah. I posted a thread a few days back detailing that I was planning a trip to tokyo for a week. I was looking for advice. Pretty sure myself and other brahs would like if you posted ITT: Your recommendations or things to know as solo travelers. I'll be using most of what you have already posted

1) What about insects? Seriously, I googled Japan and saw crazy weird stuff. Japanese giant hornet that spit flesh melting acid and gang up on you. Orb weaver spiders big as a fukkin hand. Would be pretty scared of walking around in a park or forest over there...
2) Pics of those africans I hear so much about?
3) Visited any lulzy clubs? Saw one club where light clothed girls were dancing and riding gundam-like robots and stuff. Looked hilarious.
