Feels good to have finally hit a personal best of any sort these days. I cannot remember if I've hit ANY PR's in any lift since May 3, 2013 at my last Powerlifting meet where I hit a 600# deadlift and missed at 610#. Well, last night I finally got back to where I left off a few years ago.
My goal right now is to find a Meet and shoot for that elusive 1,500# total, but I'm now at a bodyweight of 223#, so I'd have to keep it tight to stay in the 220# class. Competing in the 242's is not really an interest of mine since my lifts aren't that great for that class.
Anyway, here's the lift from last night. It was pretty ugly and my grip started to slip, but, hey, it was a good lift.

Good work, Matt.
Looks like there's still more in the tank too.No brain, no gain.

Outstanding - Congrats! It's been cool to watch your progression here over the years. You should be proud!

Thanks brother! The dudes behind me were messing with my chi and the flat edged plates were messing with my set up. Next attempt, I'll track down more round plates and make sure nobody stands right behind me.
Thanks Gentlemen!
Thanks, John! I was surprised at the bar speed too, but lock out was rough as usual at that weight. I'm about to start out lifting my grip. I'll never use straps though; I could never get the feel for them. Yes, 1,500# would be nice. Aren't you close to it as well?
Thanks guys!!
Haha, not so sure about that, Bill. Grip was failing fast. Thanks for the nod!
Thanks John! Yes, I remember Dennis. That's cool as hell!!! You should get some vids of his next fight!
Thanks brother. I never get tired of hearing that!
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Only thing bad about it is that it takes forever to get a PR unless you're laser focused on strength. I've changed up my routine over the last two years several times; just now coming back around to strength training. Thanks for the compliments, bro!
Thanks, Bud!
Thanks man, coming from a former 700+ deadlifter, that means a crap load!!! I'd like to think I could hit 700 before I start breaking down, but at this stage in life it may be a pipe dream.

Thank ya, Kimm!!!
Thanks, Bud. Your most recent thread hit home with what I'm thinking for progression for Powerlifting.
I appreciate it, Larry!
Thanks, Jeff!!
I have to actually find a Meet first. I swear, Texas has gone dry for Powerlifting. There are Meets with the Ronnie Coleman and Branch Warren Classic's but I cannot tell what federation they are sanctioned with.
If i find one, I'd like to hit 525/350/625 at least. I have to leave room for my ever decreasing bench press. My shoulders had a heart to heart with me and basically said no mas on the bench press. I think I can safely hit 340-350 though. (My personal best is 370)
Thanks Brother!!! I still get caught up in comparing myself to others. I saw Layne Norton's double overhand grip, 694# deadlift and I can't stop wanting it.
Thanks man, yeah, it came up fast, but it also stopped fast at mid thigh, lol. We'll see!
