TFW! You look in mirror and think you look good and how you've always looked until you see yourself I a picture and think wot in the fuk I don't look like that??? Is that how I look?

What is the real you??? Mirror or picture? Do others see you as the mirror you or the photograph you?

if i look at myself in the upstairs washroom mirror, i look like 10x worse than if i look at myself in the downstairs washroom mirror

it's called the mere-exposure effect i believe. from wikipedia:

Lulz I was just saying better in mirrors. I've gotten lots of chicks throughout my life so idk wtf is up I've heard ores see you the way you see yourself in the mirror

You see yourself in mirrors a lot, so you're always seeing yourself in reverse. Then you see yourself in a picture, and it's no longer in reverse...it's basically the way everyone else sees you. Kind of like how you hear yourself talking sounds different from when you listen to a recording of yourself. Chances are, the pictures are capturing a truer image of how you look.

next time you're at the gym look at someone then look at their reflection in the mirror

i used to study film and learned all about lighting and cameras and how much both can affect a person's appearance

Tons of factors go into this including focal length, lighting, distance, dimensions, sobriety (because honestly if you are in a picture while sober as a male we need to talk), angle, etc. The mirror is generally built with good lighting because it's function is to see yourself. Most pictures aren't taken with the luxury. There is also the issue with mirrors showing you everything reversed so seeing a photograph of yourself can look unfamiliar and therefore displeasing.
