Looks like they're closer to the Washington, DC, Maryland, Louisianna end of the murder rate spectrum than the New Hampshire/Vermont/Iowa end. How is this possible when New Hampshire, Vermont, and Iowa all have very loose gun laws and DC and Maryland have the strictest?

There's no reason to restrict gun ownership from law abiding citizens. All that you're accomplishing is denying them the ability to defend themselves from armed attackers.

Its my right to walk around listening to a radio. If that radio happens to be a massive retro boom box sitting on my shoulder, I'm clearly just doing it to be different and get people talking. Its a large, cumbersome and inconvenient piece of equipment that would pretty much get in the way of whatever else I was trying to do.

Same applies to a rifle for picking up trash. He has the right to carry, but a smaller weapon would be more practical for repeatedly picking stuff up off the ground. Its an attention grab and apparently it worked.
