Inb4 California begins stealing the Great Lake waters and I am forced to show my true colours - a Saiyan - in order to defend the great water reservoirs that are shared by Canada and the USA.
SrsPIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way.
GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.
PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what?
GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad.
GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.

This is EXACTLY what happens when you have government price controls.
If water was a resource traded on the free market, prices would fluctuate with demand and supply. Which means...most of the farmers using that water would never have gone into business in the first place. it only makes economic sense with government subsidization.
brb destroy price discovery, destroy supply mechanics, subsidize an industry into existence, let that industry ruin the supply of that resource.

They already import the majority of their water anyways. But yeah, the aquifers are not being replenished anywhere near fast enough.
It's funny. You read all about water conservation strategies for the public. They are important, but we've got it ass backwards. It takes 4 gallons of water to grow a fkn walnut. Just one. Almost two gallons for an almond. Brb one bag of almonds is a week worth of showering.*got windows tinted to pick nose while driving crew*
*waits in car until jacked guys leave the gym crew*
*spends 2 hours on hair before getting a haircut crew*
*scared to buy protein powder in person crew*
*curls more than he benches crew*
