One of the first youtube comments, and one that I couldn't agree more with-
"I think you should of understood IIFYM completely before you made a video about it. IIFYM has parameters and isn't just a free for all diet, although many think this which gives it a bad name. Educated bodybuilders that follow IIFYM understand these parameters, such as you must meet your required micro-nutrient goals as well as macro nutrient goals, along with required fiber and water intake. Most educated physique athletes and bodybuilders that follow IIFYM eat 85-90% nutrient dense food for micronutrient fulfillment and also for satiety purposes with only a treat (simple carbohydrate source for example) or two a day. By doing this they find that they do not get the cravings associated with a typical chicken rice and asparagus bodybuilder diet and stay much more mentally stable. It is MUCH more sustainable long term and therefore yields better overall results for many."

Funniest thing about clean eaters:
They are NEVER exclusively "clean eaters" and they do not actually claim to be so.
They'll say something like "Oh yeah I eat clean and then I cheat (binge) once a week on 6kcal)"
Ahh so instead of fitting a bit of "dirty" food into your daily macros, having a bit more and then doing a lower cal refeed, you do it all in one day? Interesting, so you're fitting things into your macros, you're fitting junk food into your macros, you're just not doing it in the same order as someone who follows IIFYM....but you're different ;;;;;;;;;))))))

He may be but "that" IIFYM he is talking about is what in reality 90% of the people will do if you tell them it's fine to eat "dirty" foods as long as they fit your macros so I understand why he is saying the things he is. And while I completely support the idea that if you take a rational approach (nutrient dense foods and filling micros as well) it can work very well but for competitive bodybuilders I find one big problem with it: the fact that you can't be as accurate as needed simply because eating different foods every day will eventually lead to a difference in results because calorie counting isn't as accurate as we want it to be and electrolyte intake can also be VERY different because of food variety. When you are contest lean that can impact the way you look quite a bit so I find sticking to the same foods every day for the last few weeks rather needed.

I don't give a **** what modern bodybuilders think about clean eating/iifym
Ronnie ate grits, black eye'd peas, bbq sauce on everything and he was the greatest bodybuilder of them all. Genetics and supplements are everything, who cares if you eat burgers and ice cream to get your calories in.
"optimal" nutrition lol

This isn't that dumb. It's mostly true that you don't have the storage pathways to store fructose as muscle glycogen. It goes to liver storage first and then in the presence of glucose, fructose is very limited in being stored as muscle glycogen but unlimited in storage capacity in fat cells.
You control your own destiny; some of us take that responsibility more seriously than others

Buncha IIFYM supporters backtracking now that they realize their "diet" approach wasn't really that great. People trying to say "Oh IIFYM is all about balance and eating well most of the time but treating yourself here and there"
Not even remotely true. Look at the f*cking acronym. IF. IT. FITS. YOUR. MACROS. (then eat it)
This was completely and 100% the "philosophy" adopted by tons of people. Not "If it fits your macros and your micros" not "Meet your macros and drink all dat dere water n sht" just "If it fits your macros" period.

IIFYM has always been about meeting macros AND micros. It originated on this board in the nutrition section from the poster ErikStevens. He always intended it to mean micros and macros. What other people end up adopting is not the original IIFYM and simply their own version or adaptation of it. If someone claims to be doing IIFYM, but has no concept of micronutrients, then they have no concept of IIFYM.

I won't say a word about IIFYM but Evan's video basically boils down to a lot of "it makes sense that...", "I would think that...". He may be completely right, but he doesn't present any argument or evidence to support his views. Not very convincing, sorry Evan
