I've been happiest with Champion bras. Check out their sizing chart and it will tell you what is considered maximum support for your specific size:

Title Nine has a bra called the Frog Bra; I'm far from big-breasted but this one is definitely a winner! But due to my small size I usually stick to Champion and Under Armour.

I'm a runner so support is very important to me. I've recently started wearing Under Armour (as in my Avi) now that I'm down to a 34C but when I was bigger (40C) I wore (and still do) Shock Absorbers. I like the fact that they rate their bras according to cup size and activity level.

CWX makes some pretty nice looking ones as well, but I haven't tried any of their items yet. Most of their products get good reviews, though. Their bras are designed to help control breasts from bouncing up so they come down less, if that makes sense.

Im a long distance runner and I've tried just about every sports bra there is; the best one for support, by far, is the New Balance brand. Oh and Im a DD so, I definatly need the support... Best advice I can give would be to go to a running store as oppposed to a clothing store, try on every bra they have and jump up and down as high as you can, lol. If the girls stay put, you've got a good one )

I like my new Danskin high impact sports bra with adjustable back. I was worried because it was so cheap, but I love it and it holds the girls steady. D cup, but getting a little smaller as I lose weight.

I love some of the higher price point bras (ie shock absorber, tata tamer by lulu, etc) but since I workout so often, and don't like to do laundry very often, I can't have 14 of the 60-80 dollar ones. So I fill in the gaps using a regular old VS underwire bra in the razorback formation with a cheap champion "max support" sports bra over it. Hold the girls down completely. I'm 34d. I did just buy the VS knockout during the semi annual sale and I really like that as well. It's the same concept of my makeshift ones - underwire first with compression on top.

One of my colleagues swears by the Enell bras. She's a wiry little thing with DDs. Her girls don't budge at all during high impact activities.
My "barely B" girls do fine in the VSX (Victoria's Secret) Knockout (front close) bras, but my colleague tried them and feels they're a "joke" compared to the Enell.

Suggestions
I have two lululemon Tata tamer sports bras and they are the best in the business. They are pricey but the straps are so comfortable and their customer service is amazing. I ripped out one of the clasps in the back a year after i bought it and the company gave me a brand new one. If you wear a D or DD this bra is a serious must-have.
