I know we've got lots of Sawx fans on board here, and I thought we could discuss all Sox-related things in this thread.
Anyone catch the first spring training game last night? Schilling pitched a solid 2 innings (15/19 pitches were strikes) despite looking like he spent the offseason on the David Wells diet.
Also, Manny now says he wants to retire in Boston, although that will probably change by next week.

curt looked terrible in shape but his fastball looked crisp especially for the first game. Dominatin first inning. Lugo looked solid at the plate but not the field, I only watched the first fur innings stopped after donalley was pulled but the pitching looked aight. Of course Friday night is the big game

red sox!!!!
yea i did catch it....schill doesnt throw that heat like he used to but if he can be at 91-92 with his fastball and spot it he should be alrite...
right on cue you saw Lugo make an error tho that would lead to a run....gonzalez would not have made such a dumb error but he also wouldnt have gotten than rbi later on...
and tavarez....aww man.....dude sucks....make him a starter from day one cuz that might be the only role he is alrite at
i cant wait to see the full lineup in swing and i cant wait to see matsuzaka
as far as manny...thats my dogg...yea he's weird and not all there but its just manny being manny maaaan☆$★♠☆ BiG-BaLLiN ☆♠★$☆

ypu friday against BC looking forward to seeing him pitch he better throw like 15 gyroballs
manny rules I think most people realize now that the dude will rake no matter how late or weird he acts, guy can just plain hit
This afternoons game isnt on tv which sucks Also elsbury looked good last night and I was reading on Espn.com a while back that he is the #1 rated minor league leadoff hitter in baseball, should be up at the majors in 08 so if thats true Im guessing this will be crisps last year, which is fine with me.

Don't tell me you're talking about the BC game
I'm excited to see Dice-K pitch too. I think we're going to have such a solid rotation. Schilling and Dice-K will eat up innings and both post ERA's under 4, hopefully Beckett can improve this year, and I think Papelbon is going to be phenomenal as a starter (we'll find out soon though).

schilling looked like **** (physically). he was too busy running his online gaming company in the off season. for a guy who said he wants to pitch for a couple more years, his training isnt showing it. i still cant stand manny's bull****, i really dont like him. although i love his stats, i think we should have traded for andruw jones when we had the chance. other than that, i just got my tickets in the mail for patriots day/marathon monday's game which should be insane.

Red Sox fan here. I don't know how much Schilling has left in him, but I am very curious to see Matsusaka (sp?) pitch.

i just learned something the other day that may squash everyones hopes of dice k. in japan he was one of the most dominating pitchers ever to play. but, in japan you dont find out who is pitching for the other team until 10-15 minutes before game time. in the MLB you know about 2-3 weeks in advance. this time gives your manger to adjust lineups and study films of the pitchers. bottom line, pitchers in japan have a huge advantage over the hitters. it will be very interesting to see what happens with him.

oddly enough nobody seems to be talking about papelbon as Dice-k, manny and all the drama schilling creates has been hogging the head lines. But last year when healthy he was the most dominant closer and Im pretty excited to see what he can do as a starter, he looked solid in 05 during his starts so he makes one heck of a 4th starter thats for sure. becett still scares me but he'll have a bounce back year probably 16-17 wins and a sub 4 era, guys too good not to

i think if papelbon doesnt do so good in the first half as a starter we should have him close the second half unless we find an ill close that could do the job...
i heard mariano might be available but he said he wouldnt pitch for the sox cuz theres too much drama.....whatta ****bag
i wish johnny damon or clemens woulda thought something along those lines
i love manny....i actually names my son emanuel and call him manny as a nickname
manny complains that he has no privacy here and theres too much attenton but hes the only dominican i know with golden dreadlocks
i hear he has red ones now too....how is he not gonna stand out?☆$★♠☆ BiG-BaLLiN ☆♠★$☆

HA well the sox managed to beat northeastern today think beckett pitched that game then in their second game they lost to Toronto with gabbard starting, crappy lineup they brought to it though wth Pedroia being most likely the only starter come opening day although I guess will mo went 2-3, wish the game had been on tv, blah Im a loser but spring training gets me PUMPED
EDIT: found the numbers to that first game beckett went 2 innings with 5 k's I don care if they are college kids thats still good stuff, especially considering im not making this he finished the 2 innings with 16 pitches al strikesLast edited by vegHead; 03-01-2007 at 01:34 PM.
