There has been an ad on my local Craigslist advertising they sale of her breast milk for use buy bodybuilders/crossfitters ect. I'll have to find the ad and post the link. It's a serious ad and I wondered how many people contact her for legit milk and how many for the perv factor.

I heard talk of this on the radio yesterday... some of the milk being purchased on the web was tested and tested positive for fecal matter and other nastiness. Buyer beware... I'm pretty sure that some serious diseases can be spread through breast milk as well.

Breast milk is adaptive to the needs of the suckled. Meaning, the profile changes according to the saliva of the suckler. This allows the mothers milk to change as the baby grows. So, without your saliva originating the milk production, you may as well drink unpasteurized milk.

As to the cow milk thing, some people have digestion issues with it. Human milk would seem to be more digestible. Personally, it doesn't bother me but it does bother a lot of people.

When I was pumping n working when my son was a baby, I could have fed a village. Had so much extra milk (gallons I ended up throwing away) in my chest freezer that I ended up doing weird stuff with it like making yogurt, butter, and ice cream for my son, lol. They actually used to have legit milk donation site (*not* for pay), for mothers who wanted to give it to their kids, which involved tons of screenings/tests on the milk, but I think that ended up getting nixed due to legal mumbo jumbo. But I lived in Germany at the time and couldn't donate, was sad to have to dump so much.

The strength of the studies of colostrum in adults is shady at best, probably the most relevant to this forum that it contains IGF-1. However, with the way the GI tract changes from being very permeable as an infant to much less so as an adult, it wouldn't actually be absorbed, but digested - about as good as that there deer antler velvet (aka, a waste of money). Plus the amount that would likely be needed to be effective for an adult. However, it *might* have some benefit for a non-infant with intestinal disease or infection.

Other than that, a very expensive milk without knowledge of sanitary conditions of production and possible pathogens. Yum.

I've had it a couple times. It's sweet. If baby didn't drink it when expressed, I would dump it into a protein shake. I used 3oz once.

I also had it once "off the tap" and one suck filling my mouth with warm milk was enough of that forever lol.
