Bought an Inzer forever belt and Titan Max RPM wrist wraps. Came out to a fair bit of money just so I could be IPF approved.

I've got mixed feels about them but I think the belt decision was horrendous. I'm waiting for them to introduce approved shoes and really annoy everyone.

You're a raw lifter. Who cares. Think about what I have to buy. You're going to spend money in any sport. Softball players spend $300+ on bats, golf = expensive as fukk, everything. You spent ~$100, get over it.

    Politics:
I guess when I said politics I meant more the anti lifter stuff. Like when they tested norris the night before rum. Or the crap they pulled with louie simmons. Or when you can't compete in an ipf meet because you did rum, or notl.

    anti lifter:
some of the depth calls are garbage. Some of the press commands are garbage. to me, it seems as though they aren't ruling in favor of the lifter. I get not passing crappy lifts, I just dislike when someone has to get chit overturned because of nazi judges.

    dl bar
tiny Shrek hands, cant hang on to chit. I also like my bars bendin.

I'll check out the uspa. The only uspa meets near me are multi ply circuses, so I just kind of figured they were meh.

Probably because there is no point. It won't change anything and will only add to headaches.

It should be interesting. Boring, but interesting. I have done a lot of reading....and it turns out all programming that works involves working hard. It is bullsh*t.

Yeah....just don't compete if $100 is a problem. I know of a few people (that are not comfortable on income by any definition) that have put in thousands by sacrificing elsewhere. DBAP (thanks ErickStevens brah, I like this).

Also....after a full training week and events on Friday, I lifted in a deadlift only fundraiser on Saturday. Did not do well at all, but we were able to raise a decent amount of money for wounded veterans and had a ton of fun seeing some other lifters hit some nice PRs.

Yeah, my statement was a little too general.

I was speaking specifically in reference to lifters that have a decent competition history with the IPF at a decently high level, and then say, "politics and high squats blah blah blah" then go compete untested and hit a 200 lb PR at their next meet.

Wait so you have a problem with a fed that drug tests, actually drug testing?? That's not anti lifter, whatever that even means. That's the thing I don't get with the USAPL/IPF hate, no one forces you to lift in a fed so if you don't like their rules then compete elsewhere (generalizing here, not you personally).

Could you see the drug testing on Norris the night before RUM as a bit of a slight/trying to discredit RUM?

The CPU did that to a guy here, he had decided to go the untested route, he was open about that and even though he wasn't competing with the CPU anymore it was still within 18 months of his last competition with them, so they decided to test him, he declined so they banned him. Which means that anybody from the CPU who competes against him in a different federation, receives a suspension.

This was a petty and small move on the part of the CPU and that is the type of political moves that make me have no respect for them as an organization.

I don't know if other IPF affiliates are similar, but every interaction I've had with Canada's has left me really glad that I have other options.

I think you're reading too much into it. They saw Norris competing at an untested event and figured (with good cause) that he might be on stuff. I'm convinced Jesse knew those "surprise" tests were coming.

At any rate, he's not the only one to get tested. When you compete in the USAPL/IPF you have to submit to out of meet testing anyways. And RUM is technically "out of meet".

Every fed has bad and good things. If you get a total in the IPF you can pretty much guarantee that those lifts will pass in any other federation, there is a lot of competition in pretty much all weight classes, their meets that I have been to are always run very efficiently without a lot of wasted time.

If they could just take the giant stick (or more likely multiple giant sticks) out of their collective ass, it would be a great place. Powerlifting is just an expensive hobby, it should be fun.

I knew someone was going to say this.

Meh, it's not a massive sum of money but it's still annoying. It's fine to spend the money first time round, but I already had a belt and wrist wraps. So it then becomes more annoying because of why it's happening. Meh, just a small rant, nothing to get crazy about.

I think having belt specifications is fine, but having an approved list from a small number of sellers isn't.

For example, knee sleeves I understand having an approved list. You could get some knee sleeves that are triple-ply and may genuinely help you squat more. That's fair. But I don't see how a belt that's leather and 10/13mm and all the other specs is any different. It's down to money for the federation. It's not terrible because, hopefully, they are investing it back into the sport but at a local level it puts people off. You want to do your first meet in the IPF and suddenly you need all these things you never thought about to compete.

With that said, I do like the IPF. I want to compete in it so there's a lot of positives too. Just don't agree with some of their rules.

From what I was told, they tested him because he was going on about how he was coming back to lift in APU meets later. Have they tested big Seth?

WADA has a spy that always comes into our gym with headphones in his ears, no music playing, does some light little lifts and tries to listen in on conversations. No one had any idea who he was until he showed up at our meet to administer tests.

I think the rule that you can't compete in feds that have banned lifters at the same meet is retarded.

No I did one already but the belt rule was introduced in 2015 so that was that. And my wrist wraps I'm not certain, I think I used a friend's wrist wraps in the end so probably not.
