Hey man, thanks. Hopefully yours are still progressing as well. I am sure that they are.
Weather is great right now. And thanks again. Hopefully can recover quickly from a crappy weekend. Starting to feel better though.
You didn't miss it all! The weather is great but the weekend, not so much. The entire houseful was sick. I got food poisoning or a stomach virus from somewhere Friday night. That didn't stop me from getting work done around the house though. And my wife worked PT yesterday then came home and we worked out in the yard and cleaned the cars and trucks out.
No need in sitting inside moping around. Getting out and being active helped us feel a little better.
My training sessions Saturday and this morning did suffer some due to being sick. But I still got the main lifts in and tracked them. Made me feel better at the time and afterwards for a short period. Hopefully by tomorrow we'll all be fully recovered.
Welcome back! Glad to see you made it back safe from the wedding and honeymoon.
I will get my past couple of lackluster training sessions up here shortly. I hope that everyone's weekends were better than mine. But what is it they say? "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." We'll see.

sorry to hear about your sickness. I am like you and I do not sit around no matter what im doing or how im feeling. The only time I will sit around is when I finally have a day off (today actually ). But those are rare and I usually sleep until 4, eat, lift, eat, sleep.. then the busy life hits again

Went crazy and did these 2 as a superset. Talk about winded after those 100 reps. But also felt alive! Like I wanted to run to work instead of drive. But 30 miles would have taken a while. So I thought better of it.

Nutrition and Activity
As you can see, the night is where it got rough. Hardly no sleep, calories were down, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but under what I am normally used to. The less than 2 hours of sleep is what got me though. Didn't eat much Saturday either, was starving all day though. But got less than 500. I am sure to make that up today though
Thoughts
I felt great Friday morning! Little did I know what was in store for later that night and the weekend. Oh well, I made it past it and live on. Now maybe I can get some good quality work in the rest of the week.

Thanks, no worries though. I am alive and kicking still. I didn't take any Bio-Gro over the weekend. I didn't want to lose it. because I knew anything that I ingested Saturday would be coming right back up. But it's okay. I haven't been sick like that in over 5 years. So I guess I was due.
And I understand, those days off, doing you want to do, are very rare. Take advantage of those when you can.

I knew it was a restless night, but I didn't know how bad until I saw my sleep stats here. It's never been that bad since I started tracking everything with the FitBit. Crazy. I will try to catch up during the week. Maybe, at least I am going to try.
Thoughts
Was the final day of de-load week. I got sick Friday night, so I only did the main lift. Didn't take any supps, I knew by the way I felt that there was no need too. I thought that going ahead and training would make me feel better. It did for a while, but later that afternoon was when I really started getting worse. Either food poisoning (damn Taco Bell) or some type of stomach virus. Either way, it was a pretty crappy weekend. Feeling better now though. But not back to 100%. Maybe tomorrow.
I did manage to smoke a Boston Butt, that I turned into pulled pork. It came out great. It was a 5 pounder, was huge, a lot bigger than what it looks like in the pic. And I was able to eat it and keep it down. (That was the best part)

At least you got some workouts in even being sick. I'm like you and will typically workout even when slightly under the weather, but this last round of illness had me out for a couple days. Fevers, they kill me.

1RM was 280 calculated. I could have gotten more reps in, but didn't want my shoulders and tri's fried for the assistance work. Already had a decent pump going on.

As you can see, I slept a lot better Monday night. Got more hours in and better quality as well.
Thoughts
I mentioned the decent pump after the main lift. I have been getting that since starting Bio-Gro. I had read when I researched it before starting that it was reported by people using it. Add me to that list. Felt like Ironman walking out of the garage yesterday morning!

Fevers kill me too. Thankfully I didn't have one. I'd have been on my deathbed if I had. Plus my wife would have been constantly nagging at me. And lord knows none of us want the SO doing that.
Awesome. If you're like us, it really doesn't feel any different coming back a married woman (a married man in my case though ). The wife and I were together for so long before we got married, it was just like another day for us. Although we got married on the beach, so there was a bonus involved.
Me too! I put a lot of love and labor into it, would have hated to have literally lost my lunch. I smoked it for 5 hours or so. I am from North Carolina originally, so as you may know, we know pork! I use an old down home sauce (apple cider vinegar, 1 jalapeño sliced, 1/2 onion chopped, red pepper flakes, and homemade rib rub, sprinkled in) that I mop on it while smoking every 30 minutes. So that it doesn't dry out.
And they weren't that bad. I am going to attribute that to all the heavy skwots that I've been doing lately. Sleep has been a lot better the past few days. And thanks man!
Cuz you're a slacker. You didn't miss the party completely. I still have a few more updates, due to being sick for 3 days and not using any supplements.
How's the bowling going? I just got my 4th 600 series of the year Friday (before I got sick). And I have only bowled league 6 times since the first of the year. I'm not that good though, just lucky. Although I am a little perturbed at myself at my 2nd game, which is the reason why I got my 600 series. It went like this..
9-, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, x, 9- [246] Nothing like bookend open frames to ruin a great game. Although I will take 246 any day of the week!!!
It was, and even tasted good too. Which is hard to believe due to the fact about how I felt earlier in the day. And thank you sir. I always go all out at most everything I do.

Nice pressing Matty. How did your shoulders and tri's feel after the full workout?

Thanks so much BNB, Felt great! I used to have shoulder pain when doing bench. But that was due to bad form. I regrouped and learned how to bench properly, and haven't hurt since. Even when doing them and OHP in very cold weather.
And that's probably about like writing checks after the first of the new year. But it all becomes 2nd nature soon enough.

I know that you would. Lets you know that you had a pretty intense session the day before. As far as recovery goes, I don't worry about it, I just train anyway. I rarely get sore. I guess I'm not working out hard enough.
Thanks, and I'd be the opposite. If I get much more than that, I'm walking around like a zombie.
We have a few bills that we still pay for by check. And if you ever sell anything on Craigslist, you'll see all kinds of people wanting to pay by check or make payments. LOL
And for me to get 9, I'd have to be in bed by 8pm. Most nights I'm not even home by 9. My wife always tells me that I have way too many extra curricular activities.
I used to do that, not the 7-8 hours part. Used to get about 4 hrs only, that's why I needed naps. Just don't have time for those anymore.
And I will try. Will most likely be grilling again this weekend.

With the soreness it's just as much keeping a variety of exercises vs. training intensity.
I know you're trying to improve your lifts, so you stick to your routine - I'm fine lifting the pink dumbbells as long as I'm making physique improvements.#Mensan

I do pretty much close to the same workouts each time. So that would explain that. My muscles are used to what I am doing. And yes, my goal is strength gains, which I am getting stronger. So I will definitely be sticking with what I've got going.
And from what I've seen, those pink DB's are working out pretty well for you. Glad to see all of your hard work and determination paying off.
As for me, well I'm thinking about adding a new lift. Talk about intense.
Am I doing it right?

First off, the weather was awesome here yesterday to say the least. Another beautiful day today. Quite a contrast from last week at this time. Not sure what was going on with my fat, cholesterol, and sodium intake yesterday. I thought I did pretty good actually until seeing this. Also, I got my nominal 6.5 hours of sleep.
Thoughts
I got a late start yesterday morning. Had too much going on right away. I wasn't able to do any training after getting home from work last night either. Had pool league at 8:30, so I had to get some stuff done. I got to do some geometry homework. For some reason my middle daughter gets behind in that class and I have to help her "catch up". I guess that's what I get for being a computer science major in college.

Lawd, I sucked at Geometry in high school. I played soccer, and my coach was also my Geometry teacher. He did a little bit of helping because he needed me to play. I'm no dummy, but my brain doesn't work very well in that way. Yours must, especially since you're in a pool league too. Do you see the world in angles?

That's right, slow and steady wins the race. This race being life itself.
And I can't watch it without laughing every time. I can't even look at the video paused without snickering. It's more of a WTF kinda thing. And 5, wait, that's the seconds it took me to realize, hey, one turn of this bar and my neck is broken. Ah but dem gainz tho!
Don't tell me that now! I already drink gallons of water a day, and my wife mentions how many times I go to the bathroom already. I have to basically not drink anything at all on road trips.
Mine doesn't work well in other ways. But yes it does. To be good in pool, a good understanding of geometry and physics both, help you go a long way. And now, I can't go down the road without thinking, "how tall is that telephone pole?" Then I have to get out with a stick and measure the shadow off that from the sun and use the similar triangles postulate and figure it out. LOL. Not really, but now I need to know how tall this pole is that I am looking at right now that I see every day out of my office window

Even though I would have liked to get more work in, the quality was still there. And I guess that is the most important thing. I got the work in (main set, and assistance work) that I wanted to. So I am counting it as a win.
On a sad note, I took my last serving of Bio-Gro this morning. But I still have this mornings session to log, and I will go ahead and log tomorrow's as well. Then will come back with my final thoughts at the first of the week next week.
Have a great weekend everyone. Oh and happy Friday the 13th too! 2nd one this year!!!
