I grew up in the midwest and hated it. Moved to LA 2 years ago and can confirm California is goat. Will gladly accept the higher cost of living to live here the rest of my life.

I'm from Alabama, but live in Chicago now. There are pros and cons to both places. Alabama is really nice actually, but I'm biased cause the thing that makes it for me is that I have so many friends and all my family there. Chicago destroys Alabama as far as things to do, but the cold and snow is a major con. Also, not needing to own a car is one of the greatest things imaginable. Next time I move I'm going somewhere that is permanently warm like Texas or California. Will miss public transit.

Depends. Weather and things to do, Florida is better. Washington and Oregon have a 'scene' thing going on, and if you're into it, then it's cool. Laid back, weed is legal, lots of art comes from this area. Depends if you want to chill on the beach then visit Disneyland or go to the Miami nightlife, or if going to a show and smoking some weed is your thing.

Have been growing up in Athens, GA and can honestly say that it isn't that bad. It's got a decent downtown, nice weather, not too rural, not too urban, but a little uneventful. However, the town does become super active during football season and Athfest (a daytime/night-time music event that goes on for three to four days in the summer)
Edit: Forgot to mention that just about everywhere outside of Athens and Savannah is straight rural, redneck area

Atlanta crew. However I advise staying out of most of what's inside the premier. I agree with the other posters, don't include Savanah in that mix. The only thing about those states you listed is that the cost of living is really low and there are some high pay jobs out there. However, hicks galore.
Atlanta is really going to bloom soon. Mercedes USA is moving it's headquarters here to Atlanta from NJ. A bunch of other companies are moving here as well.
