I mean yeah it sux but ya know w/e
Do you guys know the amounts of data that's trafficking through the interwebs? Do you think they have analyst who actually have the time to sift through it? Even though they have programs that can single certain bits of data out (maybe even down to the packet level) no one really is inspecting what you're looking at.

Only read first 2 pages, a lot of miscers (along with the general public) seem unbothered by this. Your attitude "this doesn't affect me, I do nothing wrong"... In reality this is just another step towards government control. It doesn't seem that bad when your freedoms are taken little by little....

I don't think apathy is the cause. Technological development has been creeping on privacy for a long time, and it is now at a breaking point. Privacy is already nearly nonexistent, and in a few decades will be considered obsolete, primarily because the only way to regain any privacy will be to disconnect from technology completely.
Consider how many kids today are perfectly okay with sharing most of their intimate details online. Your social life is on ********, your medical history is in an Internet-connected database, your personal files are online, and since the Internet is an open system, most of your moves can be tracked.
We are entering an era of transparency, and that means privacy is going away. Even if the government does not compromise your privacy, private companies will. Once you have drones the size of a fly available on the private market, how exactly are you going to maintain any privacy? When all that says 'it is good' has been debunked, what says 'I want' remains.

I've got a Question. If you've got nothing to hide would you have a problem with the government coming to your house randomly and just looking through it? What about installing cameras in your house? I guarantee you would have a problem. It's called "piss off, I've got a right to privacy so you can go fuk yourself"
It's not the government's job to police every citizen without evidence of any illegal activity. It's the government's job to take tax money and increase quality of life of its citizens by providing services. Lately it seems as if people regard the government as this all powerful infinitely wise overlord, whose job is to control every aspect of its citizens lives. That is not the job of any government.Needs to get back in to the gym crew

Yet again the usa seems to be the worst culprit. Are you going to stop spurting your freedom bull now.
My biggest concern with this is that it has opened doors to consumer companies to spy on me. Companies who aren't qualified to manage the data they get. What makes Samsung think it's ok to put software in a tv which records what I say. These big companies need to Phuk off.
However I do personally feel that spy agencies doing good it may be a necessary evil. There's a reason why so many terrorist plots are foiled. I just dont agree with companies doing it and most likely getting away with it because they are offering services to spy rings

I never understood this argument, elaborate as to how this solves the issue here? I understand not being confrontational, that can solve a lot of issues when you are dealing with problematic people but we are talking about invasion here. Cancelling the internet at my home and my cell phone inconveniences one person and does nothing to stop the problem, it will evolve way beyond the personal computer if it hasn't already.

I was trying to make a point. The point being that technology is starting to become a HUGE part of our lives without us knowing. Think of how much of your personal info is out there without you realizing it : bank account number, social security number, credit card. It's almost impossible for our society to function without giving our personal information to banks, hospitals, health insurance companies, etc. Since our personal info is so valuable there are people who will want to profit off it.
These videos should give you a better idea of what I'm talking about
