    Best wrist straps for deadlifts

Gym doesn't allow chalk and wrist strength is by far my limiting factor since I've had wrist problems in the past. What are the best straps for the money?

Versa Gripps are really popular around here with the guys that have them - they cost a bit more, but I think everyone that has them says they are more than worth it.

Besides them - I haven't tried Spud's, but everything they make is great:

Generally wrist straps are only used for your working set of deadlifts. It is better to not use straps for warmup sets. You want to give your grip a workout as you are warming up.

Using straps is not inconvenient if you do one working set of deadlifts, which is common for many programs. It only takes a few seconds extra for me to set up with straps when I use them.

I'm on my phone right now so I'm not going to watch this entire video to confirm it, but I believe Rippetoe talks about straps in this one...

If I'm wrong, I'll fix it when I get home.

Edit: The video posted above is not the right one. This is the one I was looking for...

If the gym doesn't allow chalk take liquid chalk in. It works nearly as well but doesn't leave the dust. If they don't allow that they don't want you to lift safe, find another gym.

Are lifting straps supposed to be stiff or flaccid? I bought the $10 red lifting straps from EliteFTS and they are super floppy. My buddy was trying to do front squats with them and he commented on how limp they were.

I think for pulls you want them to be pretty floppy as it is going to be easier to flip them around the bar. For example, when I use them for snatch grip deads it's kinda difficult to wrap them around the bar with only one hand - but that is an extreme case. Using them for front squats (assuming he is doing them the way I expect) is another entity entirely.

Yeah, that makes sense. I think he did it the way you expect: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/bIVKa7EfcMU/maxresdefault.jpg

I had some fabric straps that were quite thick and reasonably stiff…

I then bought some Eleiko Leather Straps and the difference was massive - The Eleiko leather straps are much more floppy but 1000% better for use.
